If we are to make this transition from scarcity to abundance, we must wean ourselves off old data sets that no longer reflect the world we actually live in. That’s why Chairman Warsh is assembling task forces to review the data the Fed considers. He wants to move us away from the stale, corporate-aggregated lag indicators to unvarnished, real-time data. The belief is that this can stop those trying to manipulate market expectations and instead reorient focus to objective economic truth. It is the beginning of an institutional evolution. For centuries, defenders of the status quo have weaponized this fear, arguing that if the working class isn’t kept completely exhausted by grueling labor, they will turn into a dangerous, chaotic mob.

But when you look at how human civilization actually advanced, the exact opposite is true. Human progress has never been driven by exhaustion; it has always been driven by liberation. Every single massive leap in human creativity, technology, and wealth occurred precisely because we found a way to free ourselves from manual labor.

For thousands of years, 90% of the human population had to toil in fields just to grow enough food to survive the winter. They didn’t have “idle hands”. They worked from sunrise to sunset. Yet, this era wasn’t a golden age of peace and innovation; it was a stagnant period of brutal survival. It was only when advanced plows, crop rotation, and eventually mechanized tractors freed humans from the dirt that we had the time to build universities, map the stars, discover penicillin, and invent the steam engine.

In the early 20th century, everyday household survival required hours of backbreaking manual labor. Fetching water, stoking coal fires, and washing clothes by hand on a scrubbing board consumed the entire day. The invention of the electric washing machine, the refrigerator, and indoor plumbing didn’t turn people into destructive degenerates. Instead, it freed up billions of hours of human cognitive bandwidth, sparking a massive explosion in literature, art, entrepreneurship, and social reform.

When a person is completely consumed by a 60-hour work week just to afford a roof over their head and food on the table, they are trapped in survival mode. Inflation

Following on from my last article, my conclusion was that inflation systematically cleaved the US economy into two distinct Americas: those who captured the windfall of asset appreciation, and those who were structurally displaced by it. It was precisely these compounding, asymmetric economic fractures that ignited the populist firestorm, the very revolt that has propelled Donald Trump back into the Oval Office and installed Kevin Warsh at the helm of the Fed. It is also the revolt that has brought Mayor Mamdani, AOC, and Elizabeth Warren into the limelight. Populism now springs from both the left and the right. We can remain in denial about inflation, but the reality is that we don’t need the Fed or anybody else to tell us we are imagining it. Higher prices and the massive debt hole are very real. The true test is what it costs to own a home and fill the fridge with food. Today, young people are so bereft of hope that they can’t do anything, and they’ve fallen into a grave depression and despair. They believe they’ll never own a home; therefore, they aren’t having kids. Many can’t find a job, which they believe is because the algorithms are replacing them, too, just like the policymakers. But is this a true understanding of the new reality?

I say no. Elitism can be replaced by a more egalitarian outcome, not one based on communism but on creativity. To survive, the Fed cannot merely remain a “banker to the banks.” It must structurally shift its gaze away from the institutional balance sheet and directly toward the private individual. If the individual, rather than the corporation, is the new sovereign economic actor, monetary policy must interface with them directly. This isn’t about welfare; it’s about system survival. If the central bank cannot provide direct, frictionless liquidity, infrastructure access, and monetary stability to the non-W-2 individual, the populace will simply bypass the Fed entirely. This is why it’s important for new stablecoin entities to have access to the Fed’s clearing system. The banks are saying no. They don’t want to give up their exclusive privileges. But the shift will happen sooner or later anyway. People will migrate their wealth to decentralized, algorithmic alternatives that do recognize their individual sovereignty.

Institutional elitism can be superseded by a radically egalitarian future, one rooted not in the forced parity of communism, but in the boundless, decentralized expression of human creativity.

Wetware/Heartware

I am mapping out a blueprint of a world where capital no longer relies on us, humans. It is also a world where labor is automated. So, what happens to people? To humanity? Are we just driven off a cliff of obsolescence? No, we created everything that got us here: the people, the products, and the processes.

For example, I made a massive life decision when I left the White House to decline the various offers to work inside the policy-making machinery of government. Instead, I wanted to create the most extraordinary, powerful, problem-solving, novelty-seeking phenomenon in the known universe. A human child. I have spent nearly a quarter of a century devoted to one growing person. She is, like the rest of us, wetware. Humans are the most extraordinary computational phenomena. We are biological creations that solve problems through curiosity, a dogged desire to solve them, and a relentless drive to explore and understand. Creating a person was not a divergence from my career path. It IS my career path. Others chose to upgrade hardware and to upgrade software. As a result, we can place a star in a box (small modular nuclear reactors) that are coming online at an incredible rate. We have ChatGPT, Fable, and more. We can now make fertilizer out of thin air and produce food in a building using only artificial light and regenerative soils. We have extended our eyes with the James Webb Space Telescope and can now construct new materials atom by atom, thus allowing us to create reality directly from imagination instead of being stuck with crafting from what already exists. We can allow money, algos, and the financial system to optimize themselves so that scarcity ends and abundance becomes not just possible but the central feature of our future. How does all this happen? What is the true source? Human curiosity. Human interest in solving problems. This is where heartware becomes the critical factor determining the future of humanity. Wetware with heartware is what’s needed now. That’s the road I took. I am wetware, and my heartware told me to create a human and cultivate its curiosity and capability. That is my greatest achievement in this life. It is also a way to see and explain the world economy.

Heartware, to remind, is the systemic framework, design philosophy, and leadership doctrine that repurposes the explosive wealth of a hyper-automated economy to protect, sustain, and elevate the human infrastructure. It is the conscious engineering of social stability, shifting leadership’s core focus from managing corporate margins to stewarding civilization. Unlike Hardware (the physical compute infrastructure, like NVIDIA server racks) and Software (the autonomous code and algorithmic pricing mechanisms), Heartware serves as the protective casing for humanity’s vulnerable “wetware.” It is anchored not in soft moral altruism, but in the cold, pragmatic math of systemic self-preservation. Heartware rejects the notion that distributing abundance is a matter of “being nice.” Instead, it recognizes that social stability is a prerequisite for economic viability. Just as a mechanical engine requires oil to prevent a catastrophic blowout, a hyper-efficient market requires citizens with purchasing power to keep the economic wheel turning. Heartware completely redraws the blueprint of the social safety net by replacing passive, top-down bureaucratic handouts with structural access. Handouts treat citizens as liabilities, fostering dependency, boredom, and a degradation of dignity. Access treats humans as assets. It ensures universal access to the “deflation dividend” (hyper-cheap energy, healthcare, and education) and the raw infrastructure of the new world (compute power and AI tools). Access eliminates survival-mode anxiety so that human curiosity can be unleashed.

Heartware treats human well-being as a mandatory foundational input rather than an operational expense. In a post-work society where algorithms autonomously calculate the price of money and software writes itself, heartware allows it all to scale globally.

Heartware turns the old economic myth of “inherent human laziness” on its head. It recognizes that humans are hardwired to seek mastery, purpose, and connection. When automated systems absorb the grueling, mechanical grunt work of the world, Heartware intentionally structures society to feed the soul. It shifts the cultural status symbols away from conspicuous consumption toward conspicuous contribution, providing the launchpad for a new, tech-enabled Human Renaissance.

Why?

Technology is forcing us to face a fundamental, structural question: What is the purpose of an economy? It is to meet at least our basic human needs but it should be to meet our highest human needs.

If an economy is merely a closed loop of machines generating capital for other machines, it ceases to have any human legitimacy.

I once saw an avant-garde Chinese film in London about AI that showed a single cop car driving in endless circles around a city. It had clearly found that the best way to prevent illegal activity was to simply eliminate humans. No one was left. But the self-driving AI cop car was left wondering about its purpose.

So, I am going to argue that the purpose of the economy is to allow every individual to become the greatest version of themselves possible. The purpose of the economy is self-actualization. In the past, its purpose was to serve the interests of corporations because companies were safe houses where people lived. They provided income and meaning. They provided the necessary products we needed to live, from food to housing. But it's always been our heartware, not corporate enclosure, that has enabled real growth, value creation, and wealth generation.

Marks and Spencer

London, 1931. The global economy is locked in the throes of the Great Depression, but on the British high street, Marks & Spencer is booming. The Chairman, Simon Marks, is obsessed with modernization. He is pouring capital into beautifully redesigned, hyper-efficient stores to attract customers, operating under the era's standard corporate logic: maximize sales, minimize labor costs.

Then came a fateful dinner party.

But, in a few years, a new generation will look back in utter disbelief that we ever permitted a handful of humans to arbitrarily dictate the cost of capital. Forward guidance from central bankers will become an archaic relic; money will forward-guide itself. Autonomous monetary policy has arrived, and just like the self-driving car, it no longer needs a human hand on the wheel.

Here is the fundamental truth: Greenspan’s genius wasn’t just abstract economic theory; it was data arbitrage and people management. He understood that official government statistics (like GDP or unemployment numbers) are lagging indicators. They tell you what happened last month or last quarter. To control the future, he needed to know what was happening this morning. Greenspan’s famous “Cardboard Box Index” was the ultimate example of this. Greenspan knew that almost every physical good manufactured in or imported to America is wrapped in corrugated cardboard. If box production ticked down, it meant manufacturers were slowing down orders, which meant consumer demand was cooling off weeks before the official retail sales data would reflect it. That’s why he was always checking in with the cardboard box makers, a strategy that was considered highly novel and unconventional in its day. By marrying that granular, boots-on-the-ground corporate intel with backdoor channels into the intelligence community, Greenspan created an information monopoly. He didn’t just predict the economy; he out-informed everyone else. He invented forward guidance long before it became a popular term.

In 1945, economist Friedrich Hayek wrote a famous paper called The Use of Knowledge in Society. He argued that society’s core problem isn’t a lack of resources but a lack of centralized knowledge. No single central planner can possibly know how many shoes to make, how much wheat to harvest, or where to route copper wires at any given second.

The market solves this via the price mechanism. Prices are also like the signaling fluid (the neurotransmitter) that flows through this global brain. It allocates resources dynamically.

Who got the resources mattered. The argument today is that the rulers of the old system ensured that their friends got the money. It went to Wall Street, not Main Street. Greenspan’s era never had much respect for the average Joe. The key thing was to help the major players, corporate and political, and everybody would benefit from the upside. Companies innovated. People got paid.

It was a paternalistic era.

But now, money is no longer just a medium of exchange or a means of creating value; it is a mechanism for distributed cognition.

For hundreds of thousands of years, intelligence was a slow, biological monopoly. Creating more intelligence required millions of years of evolution, of hard-won experience, or at least two decades of raising and educating a human child.

Capital-to-Cognition Pipeline

Today, we have shifted from evolving intelligence to manufacturing it. We are turning cognition into an industrial process. Instead of factories turning steel into cars, we have data centers turning electricity, silicon, and data into intelligence. But few seem to understand the new “Capital-to-Cognition Pipeline”. AI scaling laws highly correlate compute power with capability, so capital is now directly transmutable into intelligence. If a company or a nation throws $10 billion or $100 billion at a server farm, it isn’t just buying infrastructure. They are literally manufacturing higher-tier cognition. Just like we turned electricity into something you can pull out of a wall for pennies, we are turning intelligence into a utility. You API-call it, you use it, you pay by the token. We are entering a recursive loop that looks like this:

1. Money Buys Brainpower: Capital is used to buy the energy and chips required to manufacture synthetic intelligence.

2. Brainpower Makes Money: That manufactured intelligence is deployed back into the market computer to optimize supply chains, discover new drugs, automate legal work, and trade financial markets.

3. The Loop Closes: The manufactured intelligence generates immense capital, which is immediately plowed back into manufacturing even more powerful intelligence.

There is no more information arbitrage in this new world.

There is only interpretation arbitrage and raw power.

It isn’t that the President has zero jurisdiction or that the Fed is a purely private club. It is actually a highly sophisticated public-private hybrid, and the President does have a firing mechanism, but it is intentionally locked behind a nearly unbreakable legal wall.

Here is the actual breakdown of how that independence is structured and why the Supreme Court protects it.

1. The “For Cause” Shield

Under Section 10 of the Federal Reserve Act, the President can actually fire a member of the Board of Governors before their 14-year term is up, but only “for cause.” In constitutional law, “for cause” has a very strict definition established by the Supreme Court. It means a President cannot fire a Fed Governor over policy disagreements—like wanting interest rates lowered before an election. The President can only remove them for:

• Inefficiency

• Neglect of duty

• Malfeasance in office (such as committing a crime or severe ethical violation)

If a President tried to fire a Fed Chair simply for refusing to cut rates, the Supreme Court would step in to block it, because the law explicitly protects the Fed from political interference.

Regime Change at The Fed

So, when Kevin Warsh speaks of “regime change” at The Fed, he is not talking about personnel changes. He is also not just talking about philosophical changes. He is talking about introducing a new financial system that will make all this fraud and political racketeering impossible to ever happen again. That means moving into a world where all financial transactions are tracked. No more “missing receipts” or the computers don’t talk to each other” excuses. One has to ask if the economy can even function this way. After all, if we didn’t really notice the missing money before, how can we be sure it can function without all this noise?

It also means changing the formulas…..

The old formula was:

“More $’s = More Inflation”.

The new formula is “More $’s = Deflation”.

That is to say, the old system always sought to protect the interests of the rentier class, especially the banks. The new system is designed to protect Main Street, not Wall Street. Much of the screaming has been from bankers who increasingly realize that their old cash flows are being massively disrupted by the reorientation toward a world in which innovation drives vast cost reductions.

But we must still wait for the autopsy reports. After the dragnet is pulled up, we can be sure of finding many ugly, horrible things that were dumped a long time ago.

Kevin Warsh is giving us a Pre-Autopsy report when he speaks of regime change at the Fed. He is telling us that we know that the old system was not what it seemed. For half a century, the deep state and the elite banking cartel survived on the exact same oxygen: opacity. The intelligence community hid its covert operations inside un-auditable HUD and GSE mortgage pools, while Wall Street hid invisible agendas behind slow, three-day settlement floats and un-auditable black boxes

Warsh is also telling us that we are not understanding what the new system means. Under Warsh’s protocol-driven regime, money becomes intelligence, meaning every single dollar’s velocity, backing, and destination are cryptographically verified ex ante. The un-auditable “accounting plugs” that allowed the legacy system to fabricate trillions of dollars out of thin air to mask fraud are about to become technologically impossible.

So the question is: how will political donors, politicians, and banks raise or allocate funds in the new Warsh system? We can’t be naïve. We have to understand that donors were not giving their money away solely out of goodwill. Having a state’s apparatus at your disposal is valuable.

To be clear, Warsh and his posse of G-Men enforcers aren’t trying to destroy the concept of rent-seeking or profit. They are shifting the economic model away from an analog system that extracted wealth through lag, opacity, and accounting friction to a digital system that extracts wealth through velocity, parameters, and protocol gatekeeping. In the old economy, banks and politicians made money by hiding the ledger in the shadows. In the post-cleanup world, they will make money by charging a toll on the light. When settlement happens instantly, the traditional multi-day “float” profit disappears. Banks will replace this revenue by charging fractions of a cent on millions of automated, high-frequency smart contract transactions. .The SPLC indictment and the crackdown on 501(c) non-profit shields prove that politicians can no longer rely on the classic “dark money” pipeline. The massive, anonymous cash dumps funneled through opaque corporate front groups are over. In a hyper-transparent digital ecosystem, the political class must adapt to survive, shifting from cash extraction to code regulation. In a world governed by smart contracts and programmable digital rails, the supreme power is the ability to write the law that dictates the rules of the code. Politicians will monetize their influence by

determining which industries, protocols, or stablecoins are placed on the sovereign “whitelist” and which ones are choked out by compliance burdens. A bribe is no longer a suitcase of cash or gold bars; it is a regulatory carve-out embedded directly in federal policy frameworks.

Because large-scale dark money dumps will trigger immediate red flags across Bessent’s FinCEN matrix, political fundraising may have to pivot entirely to automated, high-volume citizen micro-donations. Will politicians partner with specialized fintech firms to use predictive AI to target millions of individual voters with real-time cultural or economic triggers, capturing steady streams of clean, un-attackable, on-chain $5 and $10 donations?

The traditional “lobbying firm” model fast becomes obsolete when the ledger is transparent. Instead, retiring politicians and high-level bureaucrats may increasingly monetize their careers by joining the boards of venture capital firms, AI data centers, and software infrastructure companies that are building the new digital rails. They will be compensated in equity, founder shares, governance tokens, and other assets that appreciate massively as the state forces the entire legacy economy onto their platforms.

The Death of the Black Box

What about the military and the intel community? Can they operate without SAPs? The old guard argues that if you turn the lights on, the whole national security apparatus collapses. But the reality exposed by the David Rush gold-bar scandal—where a senior CIA official literally invented a fake continuity-of-government SAP to siphon $40 million into bullion, cash, and luxury watches proved the exact opposite. Legacy opacity didn’t protect the nation; it protected a self-serving financial matrix.

The military and the IC aren’t abandoning secrecy altogether. Instead, under Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte and the broader administration dragnet, they are decoupling operational security from financial anonymity. The new architecture will replace human gatekeepers with programmatic, decentralized data environments. While operational tactics, identities of deep-cover assets, and weapon schematics remain heavily classified, the administrative plumbing will be completely exposed to automated ledger rails. If they lag, the ledger might automatically trigger penalties, freezing investor distributions and capping executive salaries. Problem solved without waiting for a multi-year congressional probe.

The mainstream believes that a hyper-transparent, algorithmically audited financial system will eliminate corporate greed and political self-interest. They are profoundly naive. These forces will morph. The new paradigm proves that operational security and absolute financial accountability are not mutually exclusive. By converting the military and the intelligence community into a hyper-lean, cryptographically verifiable network, the administration is stripping the old guard of their shadow kingdoms. The state can still hunt effectively in the dark, but it will do so on an un-erasable digital ledger that optimizes exclusively for raw, data-verified operational performance. Mainstream financial and political journalists are completely blind to what’s really happening because they operate in rigid silos. For example, the legacy media reports on Kevin Warsh at the Federal Reserve as a standard “monetary policy story,” and they separately report on Bill Pulte at ODNI as a chaotic “national security staffing story” because he is a mortgage and housing market expert, which makes him profoundly unqualified to run intelligence activities. The fact that the IRS has suddenly begun to concretize National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 and hold donors responsible for any violence or illegal activities committed by the charities they donate to seems an entirely separate matter again. Meanwhile, SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler isn’t included in the conversation because the SBA is just a sleepy government office that hands out low-interest loans to mom-and-pop shops. The fact that the IRS doesn’t have a confirmed Commissioner means the IRS is not a story at all for now. Frank J. Bisignano is, to them, just a man filling in. The fact that he was the Chairman and CEO of Fiserv, the world's largest financial services and payment technology company, and the former CEO of First Data means he is a master at high-volume, real-time transaction tracking. There is a strategy here. These appointments are profoundly connected. Warsh, Pulte, Loeffler, Bisignano, and Secretary Bessent are all arms of a complex, highly coordinated macro pincer movement designed to both dismantle the old system of finance, put in place its transparent digital rail replacement, and prosecute those who have been abusing the old system. At the heart of this strategy is the fight I have been writing about in this column – the fight between those who controlled the old financial system and those who will control the new one. These folks have assembled a digital dragnet from which there is no escape.

People ask, “What will Warsh do with interest rates?” It’s the wrong question. Warsh is wresting control of the financial system from a kleptocracy that refuses to let go and replacing it with pure math. His job is to replace the humans on the Fed's Board with algorithmic agents. That’s because money itself is no longer what it was. Now it’s manufactured intelligence. You won’t need to ask economists for economic forecasts anymore. We’ll know the economy's true position in real time.

Why the change? Because you cannot successfully build a new, transparent financial system on digital rails if the old guard still possesses the un-auditable black boxes to covertly fund resistance. To permanently install the new machine, you have to forensically dismantle the old plumbing at the exact same time. Warsh is the architect of the new digital front-end rails; Pulte is the demolition man clearing out the back-end legacy rot that has long hidden in the deep dark pools of black, dark money. Remember when a former appointee at the Department of Housing and Urban Development under President GW Bush Sr. wrote HUD: The Candy Store of Covert Revenues. That was Catherine Austin Fitts, who was massively vilified for suggesting that money was missing. That was in 2001 when it looked like only $59b was missing from its balance sheet. Former Naval Intelligence Officer Ollie North of Iran-Contra fame inadvertently showed us that this was true. As Time Magazine reported at that time, “The most curious tale in North’s testimony concerned the “family fund”: a stash of up to $15,000 in cash that North claimed he kept in a steel box bolted to the floor of a closet in his suburban Washington home.” Many concluded that it was Iran-Contra money.

Well, there’s no bigger pool of cash around than the great lake called the mortgage market. The question is: are there black-box dead bodies hidden at the bottom of the lake? Bill Pulte isn’t just an intelligence director; he is still the head of the FHFA. By bringing his real estate forensic apparatus directly into the 18-agency intelligence community, he is doing something no DNI has ever done: matching the financial data trail to deep-state actors. AI (Palantir + all the other AI firms) has already mapped everything and everybody. Remember that it was Pulte who made the criminal referrals for alleged mortgage fraud against prominent Trump critics, including Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, Senator Adam Schiff, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. So, one imagines that these individual stories are simply the tip of a very large iceberg. The Trump team is readying to expose how politicians have been dipping into the Candy Jar for a long time. One imagines the scope of the fraud lurking in the deep, dark pools of the mortgage market may make the Somali Day Care fraud look small-time in comparison.

The Candy Jar

We are witnessing the opening salvos of a systematic campaign to root out deep-seated corruption. When you dig into the plumbing of the legacy economy, the mortgage market isn’t just a collection of home loans; it has historically functioned as the ultimate macroeconomic spigot for buying political compliance and masking illicit financial engineering. Because the secondary mortgage market, as managed by Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac alongside the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), deals in trillions of dollars of highly fragmented, opaque assets, it has perhaps provided the perfect cover for back-alley deals.

Remember “Friends of Angelo”? At the height of the 2000s subprime bubble, Countrywide Financial CEO Angelo Mozilo established an elite, internal “VIP department.” High-ranking Washington politicians, regulators, and housing executives were actively recruited into the program. Lawmakers crucial to financial regulation, including Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (who oversaw the entire banking system) and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, allegedly received discounted interest rates, waived origination fees, and manual policy overrides on their personal real estate deals. Crucially, it was concluded that the program also handed sweetheart loans to former Fannie Mae CEOs Franklin Raines and James Johnson. Countrywide explicitly used these VIP mortgage perks to build a political shield. This shield successfully blocked Congress from enacting subprime lending reforms, allowing Countrywide to keep pumping toxic, predatory loans into global mortgage pools until the entire system collapsed in 2008. The Chairman of the SEC issued a report called simply, “Accounting Irregularities at Fannie Mae.” He said, “senior management engaged in a series of additional inappropriate adjustments to the company’s income statement so that the company hit the earnings per share target necessary to trigger maximum management bonuses.” “The significance of the corporate failings at Fannie Mae cannot be overstated.” It was a staggering $11 billion wipeout. Cox was also clear about the use of the word “government”. “...the word ‘Government’ in ‘Government-Sponsored Enterprises’ leaves many members of the investing public with the mistaken impression that GSE securities are backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government, when in fact there is no such guarantee.” A massive Candy Store was exposed.

The people from the world of Democratic politics and those who’ve been managing the finances of the deep state via the extensive black budgets and black programs say, “they’ll never figure out where the money has gone”. That’s because they carefully engineered layers of complexity to prevent anybody from tracking the money trail: high-level security clearance requirements, need-to-know basis only, hand-delivered assets so there is no bank transaction to trace, etc.

But AI is the best private investigator ever created. It does not just track cash flows. It tracks physical proximity. It tracks text messages and emails. It tracks who you keep meeting. It tracks how far your car is driving and where you are driving.

I remember when I worked in the White House (2001/2002), thinking how easy it would be to track my movements from a satellite. But these days, the 3,000+ chips in your car are tracking not just your location but also your mood. So, it can be known whether you are really happy or really sad about meeting someone or going somewhere. Just so you fully understand what I mean by “mapping”, let me explain this in detail so you really get where I am going with this argument.

CHIPS, Cars and Gold Bar Candy Jars

Your car’s distributed chip architecture runs advanced Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Interior Sensing Systems (ISS). This decodes a driver’s internal psychology through two main avenues: facial metrology and behavioral telemetry. Modern vehicles are increasingly required by regulatory bodies (like Europe’s NCAP and U.S. highway safety mandates) to feature driver-facing cameras. These aren’t standard webcams; they are near-infrared (NIR) and 3D time-of-flight sensors embedded in the steering column or rearview mirror that can see through dark sunglasses and function perfectly in pitch-black conditions.

The vehicle cabin is the ultimate controlled environment for real-time human telemetry. Because you are strapped into a fixed seat with your hands on a wheel and your face pointed forward, the car can map your physiological, cognitive, and emotional state with immense precision. Your micro-expressions are mapped by the specialized neural-network chips that process high-frame-rate visual data to track dozens of facial landmarks, including the distance between your eyelids, the symmetry of your lip corners, eyebrow furrowing, and the level of nostril dilation. It tracks fatigue (micro-nods, slow blink rate), anxiety/nervousness (rapid eye gaze shifts, tight jaw), and rage (bared teeth, specific forehead muscle contractions). Advanced optical sensors can even measure your heart rate and respiration remotely by tracking photoplethysmography (PPG), which detects the microscopic changes in facial skin color as blood pulses through your capillaries with each heartbeat. Your face is only half the story, though. The chips governing the vehicle’s chassis, steering, and powertrain are constantly running predictive algorithms on your physical interactions with the car’s controls. The microchips in the electric power steering (EPS) and braking modules sample data hundreds of times per second, tracking high steering wheel torque (gripping too hard), jerky micro-corrections, abrupt throttle inputs, and heavy braking force, all of which indicate anger. (see NIH paper: Grip Force on Steering Wheel as a Measure of Stress). Drifting within lanes, delayed reaction times to ambient traffic changes, and sluggish, inconsistent speed maintenance all indicate sadness.

Stressed? If you are intensely arguing on a phone call or distracted, your eye-gaze tracking uncouples from your steering inputs. The car notes that you are looking left while subtly drifting right, indicating your brain has decoupled from the task of driving. So, now you know why so many “black ops” folks only drive very, very old cars and why many billionaires prefer antique cars that don’t have a single chip. If you drive a 1998 truck or a 1968 Ferrari, nobody can remotely disable your engine or track your cortisol levels through your steering-wheel grip, and the government cannot map your physical proximity to a political protest.

Fires

But these old cars require replacement parts. Strangely, it seems conspiracy theories are popping up around this: Within a compressed nine-month window between September 2025 and May 2026, the physical and economic infrastructure required to keep older, analog vehicles on the road suffered a sequence of devastating shocks. The cascading crisis began with a massive three-alarm fire at the Novelis aluminum plant and then three more such fires there (which supplies 40% of the U.S. auto industry’s sheet metal), rapidly followed by the $9 billion Chapter 11 bankruptcy and multi-billion-dollar federal fraud indictments of First Brands Group executives, effectively freezing the global availability of critical legacy aftermarket brands like Cardone and Autolite. The bottleneck intensified dramatically in the spring of 2026 when a massive, 20-hour roof inferno crippled the Fuyao Glass America plant, the world’s largest automotive glass facility, just weeks before heavy chemical and lithium explosions gutted prominent regional salvage hubs like Chuck & Eddie’s Used Auto Parts. When independent drivers and mechanics watch the exact supply chains and salvage yards keeping chip-less, un-trackable legacy vehicles alive, get systematically decimated in such a short, highly synchronized timeframe, the human mind naturally rejects the concept of mere coincidence; a potent conspiracy theory evolves because the real-world consequence of these chaotic events perfectly simulates a deliberate, manufactured squeeze designed to eliminate mechanical privacy and forcefully herd the population into the modern, microchip-heavy surveillance dragnet of smart cars. Whether you buy this or not, the reality is that most people have to buy modern cars, and that means that anybody who has been operating in the old black box/black economy/black budget architecture is as visible now as a prisoner caught in the dark by a brightly beaming spotlight.

So, when the Feds showed up at the door of David Rush in Ashburn Virginia and “found” a massive stockpile of “stolen” government assets including 303 one kilogram gold bars (est value of $40m and estimated weight of 668 pounds), $2m US Dollars in cash (which only weighs 220 pounds if was all in $20 bills), foreign currency and 35 luxury watches, do we really imagine this person was a lone wolf? He was a liaison to the Pentagon’s nuclear submarine program and had worked for the CIA for 17 years. That means he had to have had a TS/SCI clearance – top-level security clearance. That means the government investigators met with his family, friends, employers, etc. at least once every five years.

The allegation is that he created a fake Special Access Program (SAP) and illegally funneled money into his own control. The thing about SAPs is that nobody can ask any questions, not even internal staff. Special Access Programs (SAPs) are the crown jewels of the legacy military-industrial complex. A feature of SAP/black program personnel is that their credentials are often fabricated to hide their true identities and make them untraceable. So, it may well be true that he didn’t go to Clemson or Rensselaer. The question is, did his bosses already know this because they created the credentials? It’s not that he had no credentials. A lot has happened since the Summit between President Xi Jinping and President Trump, and the subsequent high-level engagements between President Putin and President Xi. A lot is still happening. Some things are small but carry great meaning; even the throwing of a ball can cause a breakthrough in geopolitics, as we shall see.

When I published “The Hug and the Circumpunct,” the mainstream press treated the Temple of Heaven summit meeting between President Xi and Trump as nothing more than a transactional photo-op. Many told me that a true “Hug” or systemic realignment between these superpowers was impossible. But beneath the surface, I could see that a structural “Heartware” force had already begun to rewrite the global geopolitical landscape because no one can face the consequences of a kinetic conflict between the superpowers. Many said, “What’s a circumpunct?”

I said, it’s a symbol of peace. We need to be alert to symbols now.

Less than two weeks later, the data is in. Real-time policy shifts across the globe are vividly confirming the macro-narrative and structural pivots I mapped out. The data is clear. It turns out that there is a good deal of symbolism in this historic pivot, too, as we shall see.

First, the practical matters.

Rubik’s Cube

I argued that Trump is attempting to solve all the geopolitical problems at once. It’s like a Rubik’s Cube. All the pieces of the puzzle must move to resolve any one piece. China is needed on the side to help resolve Ukraine, Iran, and North Korea. That means Taiwan must be renegotiated, and Venezuela and Cuba must agree to remove Russian and Chinese operators and spying operations. The US must agree to stop fomenting conflicts via color revolutions, which means the White House must tame America’s shadow, the so-called Deep State. That means going after the true origin of COVID and of Iran’s uranium, for example

.

Today, we see the following:

Iran’s leadership is so fractured that we get utterly conflicting signals from them. But, in spite of that, Iran agreed to a deal that involves a 60-day ceasefire extension, a “gradual reopening” of the Strait of Hormuz, and a gradual unfreezing of Iranian assets. We learn more from third parties than from the players themselves. Pakistan’s Chief of the Defense Forces is now in Beijing, delivering the message that the talks in Doha are likely to conclude well.

The shift from a military blockade to an economic framework is in full motion, proving that they recognize the value of joining the new world order exceeds the cost of remaining in the old one. Notice the US approach to the closed Strait as well. Rather than maintaining a standard military blockade, the Hormuz theater is being transformed into an economic and legal framework. Iran has helped to create a transit scheme, establishing a de facto Persian Gulf Strait Authority (everybody together) to charge commercial ships for safe passage under the guise of “maritime security.”

Crucially, while Washington demands freedom of navigation, Beijing’s official post-summit readouts completely scrubbed the Iran issue. This deliberate, “mutually useful ambiguity” allowed stranded Chinese supertankers to quietly pay these new localized fees and resume their vital energy lifelines unbothered. The US and China aligned. A hug.

Uranium as Gold Dust

The Iranians keep disagreeing about the uranium because they understand how valuable this is to Trump. If Trump is right that the origin of their uranium is American, then Iran’s allies, Hilary Clinton and President Obama, are going to be permanently politically radioactive. These friends had sent Iran some $1.7b in cash. Under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) deal. It’s hard to lose friends like that. Trump is offering both the possibility of something worse (you’ll never sleep well again, if we let you live) and something better (you can be a hero in history for agreeing to join The Abraham Accords).

Now Trump is going further and reeling in ALL the regional players, including Iran, and compelling them to embrace by all committing to The Abraham Accords, so that all have skin in the game. Call it a forced hug. Press reports are starting to say “Iran is willing to transfer its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to China, and is seeking guarantees from Beijing before proceeding with any agreement with the U.S., Saudi Al-Arabiya reports citing high-ranking sources.” We’ll see, but Iran’s nominal leader, Speaker Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Araghchi just landed in Doha for US-Iran mediation. It’s the first time Iran has sent both together. They must be feeling safe, and they look pretty happy. They must be feeling close to an actual decision. This is how deals get done. Back and forth, over and over, until all enter the circle. This must mean a two-state deal between Israel and Palestine is back on the table because that’s Saudi Arabia’s red line. That’s the ultimate death-or-embrace situation. Here’s the list of who needs to be in.

President Xi jumped to North Korea for an “emergency visit,” probably in anticipation of the end of the Armistice. For the first time in seven years, a North Korean sports team entered S Korea. North Korea’s Naegohyang Women’s Football Club arrived in South Korea for their match in S Korea on the 20th. This marks the first North Korean sports visit since 2018. N Korea, interestingly, used language that indicated that they. As one observer wisely noted (here), the nuances of language indicate that North Korea no longer sees relations as inter-Korean but as interstate. That’s a step forward. Better to have footballs flying across the border than missiles.

Cuba is surrounded by US forces (drones, ships) and out of gas, out of diesel, and out of friends. It’s about to be free of its past and will be reintegrated into the world.

Venezuela just released a 63-page blueprint for adopting American legal and business standards to secure foreign investment. It’s rejoining the world.

Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a ceasefire, but then Russia started firing Oreshnik, nuclear-capable hypersonic IRBMs at Ukraine. These carry multiple independently targeting warheads and are almost impossible to intercept. It seems there’s no hug, except that President Putin agreed to pay the $1b and to join the Board of Peace. Russia is also now warning the US about its strike plans for Ukraine’s capital. That’s a hug while still fending off your opponents (which includes not only Ukrainians but America’s shadow and the Europeans who continue to oppose all these deals).

The New Era of Geopolitics

Here’s a deeper dive into my forecasts:

The Forecast: I argued that the old framing of geopolitics is dangerously obsolete in an age dominated by AI, supercomputing, and digital infrastructure. I predicted that both superpowers would realize they must shift away from destructive espionage toward managing these god-like technological capabilities together.

The Validation: The head of China’s spy agency publicly agreed that a “new era” has begun, explicitly prompted by how AI and technology are shifting the landscape of possibility. This perfectly echoes my thesis that geopolitics is being reframed as a cosmic technological alignment problem rather than as a zero-sum game.

On May 23, 2026, Taiwan’s National Security Council Chief, Joseph Wu, officially revealed on X that China has deployed more than 100 vessels, including navy warships, coast guard ships, and marine survey/research vessels, in the regional waters surrounding Taiwan and stretching from the Yellow Sea down to the South China Sea. A Taiwan security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed to the press that while Chinese vessels had been detected before the Beijing meetings, the number surged past 100 immediately after the conclusion of the Trump-Xi summit.

This sudden wall of ships rolled out just after President Trump referred to the situation as “the Taiwan problem” in a press gaggle at Joint Base Andrews, publicly signaling that arms sales could be used as a literal “bargaining chip”, and directly following Acting U.S. Navy Secretary Hung Cao’s announcement that the U.S. will indefinitely delay delivery of arms to Taiwan, treating pending arms sales as a massive “negotiating chip” held in abeyance while Trump negotiates with Xi.

Are the US and China swapping Cuba and Venezuela for Taiwan? Sort of. With conditions. Both the US and China are behaving in ways that confirm “this is mine and that is yours unless…”

The Forecast: Taiwan and China have quietly begun to normalize their relationship through bottom-up economic integration, explicitly highlighting the resumption of travel from Shanghai to frontline islands like Kinmen and Matsu to defuse historical military flashpoints.

The Validation: Official cross-strait directives authorized Shanghai residents to apply for both group and individual tours to Kinmen and Matsu. Regional scholars and Beijing policy analysts are increasingly noting that Beijing is deliberately using these travel restarts to convert former military tripwires into showcases of cross-strait commercial alignment. This is the exact “Make Money-La” dynamic I described.

North Korea and the Denuclearization Narrative

The Forecast: The U.S. and China silently blessed a joint effort to contain and absorb the North Korean problem. The old framework of isolated proxy conflict is fading, replaced by a multi-President, multi-year strategy where Xi and Trump ultimately aim to share the glory of lifting the 1953 Armistice.

The Validation: Just before the Trump-Xi Summit, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited North Korea. Immediately following the Beijing meetings, the White House released an official factsheet confirming that Trump and Xi were deeply engaged on the peninsula, explicitly stating the two leaders “confirmed their shared goal to denuclearize North Korea.”

Xi is heading to Pyongyang in his first visit since 2019 to mark the 65th anniversary of the China-DPRK cooperation treaty. Analysts immediately pointed out that this is a monumental rhetorical shift for Beijing, which had completely scrubbed that specific phrasing from its official diplomatic readouts since 2022. After Donald Trump confirmed aboard Air Force One that he had discussed North Korea with Xi and that he remains in contact with Kim.

Fresh commercial satellite imagery from early May, published by 38 North, shows a massive surge in construction activity at the long-dormant New Yalu River Bridge crossing. North Korea is rapidly expanding its customs and immigration facilities, erecting at least four massive new cargo warehouses, and clearing transport lanes. This facility, which has sat quiet for over a decade, is being engineered to function as the primary secure corridor for cargo trade and economic integration between Beijing and Pyongyang. Trains started crossing the Yalu River on May 16th after a six-year pause. A deal is in play to reduce North Korea’s nuclear threat and integrate its economy into China’s.

Notice how many industrialists showed up in Korea right around the summit. Sir Demis Hassabis arrived to announce that Google DeepMind had formalized an MOU to establish the company’s first global AI Campus in Seoul. The campus will serve as a direct operational pipeline where Google dispatches elite engineers to collaborate with Korean advanced networks. Kareem Ayoub (Vice President of AI Technical Strategy, Google DeepMind) executed the highly influential “2026 Leaders AI Roundtable” in Seoul, spearheading closed-door strategy sessions with top-tier executives from South Korea’s leading conglomerates (Hyundai, LG, CJ ENM, GS Retail) to embed DeepMind’s upcoming protocol-level software within the region’s physical manufacturing supply chains.

This is a heavy vote of confidence in South Korea, and it makes sense that Google has correctly anticipated the rapprochement between North and South Korea as a side effect of the superpowers’ alignment. Simultaneously, the White House announced that NVIDIA can now sell Blackwell chips to China, and that the CIA and NSA can also secure the high-capability chips they require. This is the “Invisible Bridge” manifesting—where access to the technological Kingdom of Abundance requires all players to step away from the shadow wars.

Bernard Arnault (Chairman and CEO, LVMH) stepped into Seoul in mid-May 2026, immediately following the conclusion of the superpower summits. Arnault’s presence signaled a rapid move by global capital to secure prime market positions within Asia’s primary technological safety hub. It’s pretty clear that industrialists now anticipate a boost to South Korea’s already ultra-massive tech wealth and cultural alpha. I said, culture ended the Cold War. This time, the US and China both agreed to create a Board of Investment to discuss future Chinese investment in non-sensitive U.S.

I’ve seen all the press coverage on the Trump-Xi Summit. The journalists are focused on old-fashioned deals like sales of planes and chips. But they missed the larger story entirely.

There is immense symbolic significance in the leaders meeting at the Temple of Heaven. Rather than a signing ceremony, China opted for something mythic because this isn’t about a transaction or a contract. It’s about allowing for humanity to make a civilizational step change. If it works, the White House will need the new ballroom for celebratory state dinners. If it doesn’t, it’s going to need the upgraded Sit Room (which is really what the new “ballroom” is) for managing a war with weapons that can end humanity in a heartbeat.

This moment is about heartware. We are upgrading our hardware. With it comes the power to light the world or plunge it into darkness. We are upgrading our software. With it comes AI and supercomputing that may soon outthink and outperform us all, regardless of nationality. What we have not yet upgraded is our heartware (see my Substack on Heartware here) — the inner operating system of humanity – with the meaning, empathy, wisdom, and moral imagination that must match these god-like powers of creation and destruction.

That is exactly what we are witnessing right now. So, instead of thinking in terms of who won and who lost the Trump-Xi meeting, we should be thinking about the Win: Win here for humanity. Why did it happen? Terror. Between the US, China, and Russia alone, nuclear weapons now amass to about as much as 4 million kilotons of TNT. Hiroshima was less than 4 kilotons. 4 vs 4 million. Ummm. We need to stop analyzing the US-China Summit in terms of which side “won” and which “lost”. Humanity is being saved, and that’s all that matters. In an era of hypersonic nuclear missiles, AI-driven cyber weapons, orbital strike systems, nuclear weapons that will destroy Earth many times over if deployed, and total economic interdependence, the binary became undeniably clear. The choice is stark. The superpowers can choose to go to war against people (call it the Star Wars scenario) or to go to war against problems (call it the Star Trek scenario). Both sides know they cannot choose Star Wars because a kinetic war against people with today’s modern weapons systems would mean the end. They are so powerful that the superpowers would risk annihilating not just each other but all of humanity and the planet as well.

A superpower war will not look like Ukraine’s slow, grinding, land war. It will be sudden and catastrophic, involving weapon systems that do not allow for limited war between peers. Americans are about to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary. In spite of the separation between Church and State, many Americans still prefer to see things in a Christian context and biblical terms. It’s a matter of angels and demons. If we choose a superpower war, we destroy everything. We are demons. If we choose love (yes, love of humanity), we are angels. A kinetic clash between the U.S. and China, or Russia, would be over in minutes, with consequences measured in billions of lives and centuries of setbacks. The economic costs would dwarf any short-term political gain. Geopolitics has thus become too expensive for both sides.

Both also see that scarcity is now being converted into abundance. American and Chinese engineers are telling their bosses alike. We can now make fertilizer without oil, and thus grow whatever we need anywhere. We have captured the power of a nuclear star in a box (Small Modular Reactors), which can now safely power our society indefinitely. The list of such advances is now endless. Why destroy everything now when we are on the brink of having enough for all?

No Signing Ceremony

So, we have to understand that the old framing of geopolitics is not just wrong. It is dangerous. This is not a matter of China winning or the US winning. Both have agreed to accept the conditions to allow humanity to win. We are witnessing a historic hug between the leaders who represent half the world’s GDP and all our futures. This is why, in my view, they did not conclude the summit with the usual signing ceremony. It was not a transaction. It is not a contract. Instead, the two leaders went to two sacred sites: the UNESCO Heritage site, the Temple of Heaven, the mysterious core of Chinese power. The extraordinary symbolic meaning of this is not understood, or reported, by the Western press, as we shall see.

In fact, most of what mattered at the Summit was not reported, such as the simultaneous arrival of the Head of the CIA in Havana, where he negotiated with Castro’s grandson amidst a total energy blackout. Cuba has no gasoline, no diesel, no lights, and now, no reliable friends. It is either going to be embracing the US or seeing its leader, the grandson of Fidel Castro, facing a Maduro scenario (i.e., facing extraction and charges). Trump is considering offering Venezuela statehood. The word is that Cuba and Venezuela are both considering entry into the US legal system within the American sphere of influence (little investment will happen unless they formally come under the halo of US law). Secretary of War Hegseth canceled a major deployment of 4,000 US troops to Poland as he sat two seats away from the Chinese Premier, thus signaling America’s firm intention to pull troops out of Europe in anticipation of a peace deal over Ukraine that the US and China intend to pursue together. The first ship got through the Strait of Hormuz. Of course, it was Chinese. The Yuan Hua Hu, a Chinese tanker carrying 2 million barrels of oil, is now expected to arrive in Zhoushan in eastern China on June 1st. America hasn’t just lifted its blockade of the Straits. It is now going to guard and protect China’s energy lifeline, even offering to supply China directly with oil via Alaska. In return, Xi made it clear that China now views the IRGC as a problem that needs to be shut down. Xi said, “If I can be of any help at all (on brokering a peace deal in Iran (or getting rid of the IRGC problem), I would like to be of help.“ He was explicit in his agreement with Trump. “Iran”, he said, “cannot have a nuclear weapon”. He said this knowing that the US has 50,000 troops on standby with two Strike Carrier Groups at the ready. While Xi was clear that he doesn’t want the Strait militarized by the US, he also accepts that the US can and will only leave when the IRGC stops holding China and the world to ransom there. Now that the IRGC has struck a plant in the UAE, resolve will harden. Trump said, “There won’t be anything left of them”. Meanwhile, China will now be shifting its supply chain to the US, buying more oil and gas from Alaska. The two superpowers also silently blessed two geopolitical solutions. North Korea, now the last standing member of the old Axis of Evil after Iran, will be dealt with by a quiet joint effort by the US and China. As I said in my last Substack, the Chinese are preparing to absorb North Korea and contain the problem. The US has no doubt signaled support for this effort.

America also significantly shifted its stance on Taiwan. The day after the summit, Trump made it clear on Hannity that the US is not going to fight a war over a place that is 9500 miles away and implied that Taiwan would be stupid for trying to “go independent”. This has been the position of every American President, but none said it out loud before because, as one observer put it, “Every single one chose to paper over that asymmetry with vague ‘strategic ambiguity’ because the political cost of saying it out loud was higher than the cost of pretending it wasn’t true.”

Nobody noticed that Taiwan and China had already begun to normalize their relationship in quiet and subtle ways. On May 13, the very day the summit opened, the first group of tourists from Shanghai arrived in Kinmen, one of the Taiwan-controlled islands lying just a few kilometers off the mainland coast. For the first time in years, Beijing has resumed both group and individual travel to Kinmen and Matsu. These former flashpoints of military tension are now being gently reconnected through people-to-people exchanges and tourism. Remember that these islands were the epicenter of two serious crises between the US and China in 1954 and again in 1958. Since then, the US refused to defend these Taiwanese islands on the grounds that they were too close to China. Quemoy (now known as Kinmen) is only 2 km away from China’s mainland.

Few paid attention to the fact that U.S. Army Green Berets from the 1st Special Forces Group, 2nd Battalion, Alpha Company have maintained a continuous training presence on Taiwan’s outlying islands of Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu since early 2024 (as announced by the US and confirmed by Taiwan), as authorized under the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act. These small, rotational teams of special operators have been serving as advisors and trainers to Taiwan’s elite 101st Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion and Airborne Special Service Company. Their mission includes joint exercises in asymmetric island defense, amphibious reconnaissance, guerrilla tactics, and the operation of advanced systems such as the Black Hornet Nano UAV. Taiwan’s Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng publicly confirmed the deployment in March 2024, describing it as a “learning opportunity” for Taiwanese forces while underscoring its role in strengthening deterrence against potential incursions. But, one wonders. Has this perhaps been the place where Americans, Chinese, and Taiwanese could quietly meet to discuss the future? What does this tourism announcement tell us about the planning that’s gone into the Summit? This is a multi-President, multi-year strategy.

Shadow America

Trump also repositioned Taiwan by re-emphasizing that they “stole” semiconductor chip production that rightfully belonged to the US. Why? Is Trump just swapping Taiwan for Cuba? No, there are deeper layers of the problem here. Trump’s language is about acknowledging that Taiwan has long been effectively an outpost of a faction of the US intelligence community (CIA), a faction that is causing America endless problems at home through its actions abroad. China and Russia alike are observing carefully as Trump makes ongoing efforts to shut down America’s shadow self, the parts of the American establishment that have been financing and fomenting color revolutions and forever wars, and treating certain locations as states of their own, from Ukraine to Taiwan. Trump said, “Taiwan would be very smart to cool it a little bit” because they now have neither the US Government nor the American Deep State reliably behind them. The US will now indefinitely delay delivery of arms to Taiwan. Instead, Trump has repositioned Japan as Taiwan’s regional protector, which is why Japan’s Prime Minister got the first call from Trump after he was wheels up on Air Force One. The President’s Oval Office joke about Japan not warning about Pearl Harbor makes more sense now. The US wants Japan’s military skills. The US wants them to protect Taiwan and to ease the way into a transition that all can live with. (Watch for Poland to play the same role with respect to Ukraine soon). The US is clearly handing off primary protection responsibilities to partners to ensure it is not always drawn into “forever wars”.

Guard Dragons

It is not that the US is abandoning Taiwan. Nor is the American withdrawal of troops from Poland and Germany an abandonment of Europe. The message is not one of abandonment but of enticement. It is, “there’s a deal to be had IF China can become more like Taiwan,” and “there’s a deal to be had if Russia can stop lobbing advanced weapons systems at Ukraine,” and “there’s a deal for the IRGC if they can stop blocking teh Strait and aiming missiles at nuclear power plants”.

The message is the same in each case. The old approach will now be more harshly punished, while embracing America will bring rich rewards. China can hardly argue against the offer. Their economy is substantially underperforming what it is capable of. Foreign Direct Investment has dried up. Yes, they have made immense technological advances, but the general population is increasingly agitated by the debt problem and the inability to find a job or to trust banks to return their savings. Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai are fine, but the beneficiaries in smaller, secondary, and tertiary cities are far fewer. So, there’s no deal if China wants to crush Taiwan as they were seen to have done in Hong Kong. There’s a great deal if China becomes more like Taiwan. In the meantime, the US passes the night watch to Japan. They are closer and now extremely militarily capable. They’ll be guarding Taiwan like a temple dragon, meaning fiercely.

The same conversion dynamic has now unfolded in Venezuela. The U.S. has already agreed and implemented a comprehensive oil framework with interim President Delcy Rodríguez. Washington now controls all crude sales and revenue accounts, Venezuelan budgets are subject to a monthly U.S. audit, and funds must be spent on U.S. goods and services. More than 80 million barrels have already been delivered under these terms. Yesterday’s adversary has become a stakeholder who benefits from the new order. This is exactly the model Trump and Xi are applying on the global stage.

The IRGC is next up. They’ll convert when the financial and status offers are good enough, especially now that they've lost their best client (China’s oil demand will now be met via Alaska). That’s a lesson. Don’t cut off the energy supply of your biggest backer! The IRGC can see they are also losing all their best friends. The old Axis of Evil is fading away. Cuba is now negotiating to become part of the US, whether through statehood or another form of relationship. NPR wrote, “Cuba has confirmed multiple rounds of secret and official meetings with senior U.S. State Department officials, including a delegation that visited Havana in April 2026 (the first U.S. government aircraft landing there since 2016)”.

It’s pretty clear that something is in motion for North Korea as well. I’m betting the Armistice that’s been in place since 1953 will probably be lifted with Xi and Trump sharing the glory (see my last piece on North Korea). This is exactly how the conflict in Northern Ireland ended. The value of being a part of the new world starts to exceed the cost of remaining in the old world.

4^th of July Deadline

In case you are still wondering why now, let’s be reminded that both the US and China know we are living in an era of extraordinary scientific and technological advances that will allow us to cure diseases, extend longevity, grow food more easily, and achieve virtually free energy. We can also now harness the power of atomic energy to destroy humanity in a nuclear flash or to power a much brighter future with new TRISO-fueled nuclear power stations that bring no meltdown risks. China has already industrialized the mass production of such power plants. Huge progress is being made by both countries on nuclear fusion as well. The target date? July 4^th, 2026, America’s 250^th Anniversary. Trump wants to show the world that he has delivered (virtually) free energy to the world. That’s a whole new kind of fireworks. A Star in a Box, as I called it in a previous substack, is nuclear power in a container half the size of a car, powered by half a handful of TRISO pellets that can power 5000 homes almost indefinitely. This tech can be used to illuminate humanity's future or destroy Earth altogether. We can go light or go dark. So, it is now civilizationally essential that the superpowers agree that this kind of power will be used for peace and not for war.

Kardashev Scale

This is a Kardashev step change moment. To remind, a Type I (Planetary) civilization can harness and utilize all the energy that reaches its home planet from its parent star. At this stage, humanity would control all natural forces, including the weather (see Weather as a Force Multiplier), earthquakes, and volcanic activity. A Type II (Stellar) civilization is capable of directly harnessing all the radiant energy output of its star. This level would likely involve engineering mega-structures, like a Dyson Sphere, to capture a star’s entire energy output or a Star in a box. A Type III (Galactic) civilization can control and channel the energy of an entire galaxy. Such a society would span across multiple star systems and utilize the combined power of billions of stars.

Both sides are well aware that each has the ability to deliver energy from the atmosphere and pace. Just check out Quicksink. It lets the US blast ships to smithereens from above. The Russians have been blasting their satellites to smithereens to create deadly debris fields that are slowing everybody’s ascent into the unlimited riches of space. Chinese and American satellites have been at war for some time, well outside the public’s view. Just because there are no journalists in space doesn’t mean there’s no conflict there.

Given a choice between annihilation and abundance, there is no choice. Two countries remain willing to threaten nuclear annihilation – Russia and North Korea. They remain the central problem. Iran may still get the headlines. But, silent North Korea and noisy Russia are bigger problems for the world.

Russia

Sadly, as America and China embraced, Russia chose the opposite path, publicly threatening the world on May 12^th, one day before the summit, with its most advanced nuclear systems, including the Sarmat “Satan II” ICBM, the Poseidon underwater drone, and the Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile (known as Skyfall). Putin pointed out that the combined power of its individually targeted warheads is “more than four times that of any of its Western counterparts.” One Satan II missile can deliver more explosive power than the entire Allied bombing campaign of World War II in under 30 minutes. Its MIRV (Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle) technology allows a single missile to carry 10 to 15 heavy nuclear warheads, each of which can be directed to strike different, geographically separate targets all at once. The Poseidon is a 65-foot-long nuclear torpedo that can carry up to a 100-megaton warhead. Putin highlighted is engineered for a different but equally apocalyptic form of destruction. It does not strike cities directly; instead, it detonates offshore to generate a radioactive tsunami-like surge, designed to flood coastal regions with radioactive seawater and turn ports, naval bases, and entire metropolitan areas into uninhabitable radioactive zones for generations. The Burevestnik’s real terror multiplier is not raw yield alone; it is stealth plus unlimited endurance. It can fly for days or weeks, change course unpredictably, and strike from any direction after loitering indefinitely, thus defeating early-warning radars and missile defenses. It’s a nuclear-powered missile. The Satan II, Poseidon, and Burevestnik make any kinetic exchange between superpowers an act of civilizational suicide.

As the talks in Beijing began, Russia also unleashed one of the largest aerial assaults of the entire war in Ukraine. Overnight on the 13^th, Russia sent a massive saturation barrage of over 1500 projectiles, including 800+ Shahed-type drones plus ballistic and cruise missiles across 20 regions, pounding Kyiv’s Darnytsia residential district, collapsing apartment buildings, and killing at least six people. At least 31 were injured in the capital alone. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, called the timed assault “barbaric,” noting it came precisely while the world’s most powerful nations gathered in Beijing hoping for peace.

This was the geopolitical equivalent of slamming the door in a fit while everyone else is hugging. The strikes in Ukraine during the summit were a kinetic punctuation mark. Putin’s message was clear. “While you talk peace, I remind you I can still impose costs.” He had offered to meet President Zelensky only a few days before. It was an ultimatum dressed up as an olive branch. By saying “This should be the final point, not the negotiations themselves,” Putin made it clear that he was only agreeing to a signing ceremony for a deal on his terms, not for actual negotiations or talks. He is not offering a hug. President Zelensky isn’t offering one either. He said, “We’re not giving up on diplomatic efforts… but the most effective tools are those that can physically stop the Russians.” Ukrainian drones are now aiming at Moscow directly. The risk of escalation is escalating.

Ukraine

We have to understand that Ukraine is where Trump started and where he wants to finish. His efforts to forge a hug with China did not arise in spite of the war in Ukraine—they arose because of it. Trump has long viewed the grinding conflict in Europe as the single greatest drag on global stability, markets, and American interests. Ending it quickly and cleanly is not a side issue for him; it is America’s strategic north star. Trump seized on the fact that the US and China share the same iron-clad position on Ukraine: no nukes. The earliest clear public statement came on November 4, 2022, when Xi told visiting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz: “The international community should … jointly oppose the use of, or threats to use, nuclear weapons, advocate that nuclear weapons must not be used and nuclear wars must not be fought, in order to prevent a nuclear crisis in Eurasia.” It was Beijing’s most direct rebuke of Moscow’s nuclear rhetoric to date.

This shared red line is not abstract. It is the leverage point. Only China can constrain or entice Russia into a more amenable position on Ukraine. Beijing is now Moscow’s economic lifeline because China purchases roughly half of Russia’s oil and gas exports and supplies 90% of the dual-use technology that keeps the Russian war machine running. China provides the financial and diplomatic cover that sanctions have failed to sever. China can constrain Russia by dialing back those flows or tightening the terms. It can entice Russia with even deeper energy partnerships, investment guarantees, and a face-saving role in a new Eurasian security architecture. China is also moving into Russia’s East, preparing to build much-needed infrastructure across Siberia and the Pacific coast. These will include ports, railways, highways, and communications links. No other power, not the United States, not Europe, holds the leverage that China does.

The idea that the United States and China are effectively deciding the fate of Ukraine feels jarring to Russia and to many observers. It seems to sideline the very nation whose territory and future are at stake. Yet geopolitics today operates like a quantum phenomenon: everything is entangled. A handshake in Beijing instantly alters the calculations in Moscow and Kyiv. Supply-chain decisions made in Shenzhen ripple into battlefield realities in Donbas. Markets in New York price in the probability of peace the moment the two largest economies signal cooperation. In this hyper-connected system, the US-China axis is not “deciding” Ukraine’s fate in the old imperial sense. It is creating the only gravitational field strong enough to pull the entire entangled geopolitical system toward resolution. Anything that gets in the way must be sacrificed. That includes President Zelensky.

Corruption scandals are now moving dangerously close to President Zelensky himself, steadily eroding both his domestic legitimacy and his ability to remain in power. The 2025 Energoatom scandal, the largest scandal in his presidency, directly implicated his long-time business partner from the Kvartal 95 television company, Timur Mindich, and forced the resignation of his most powerful aide, Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak. Another, Oleksandr Kabanov, is dead. Mindich seems to have fled to Israel. He was not just a casual associate. He was one of the inner-circle “old friends” from Zelensky’s pre-presidential life. The fact that he fled while senior officials close to the president (including former Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak) were also being investigated has significantly damaged the perception that Zelensky’s team is clean. Leaked recordings and court documents have shown senior officials boasting about their ability to influence the president, creating the perception that the inner circle has treated wartime reconstruction contracts as personal enrichment opportunities. Earlier revelations, including the 2021 Pandora Papers that exposed offshore companies tied to Zelensky and his closest partners, already painted a picture of a leader who arrived in office with the same elite networks he once criticized. Combined with repeated defense procurement scandals involving overpriced food, defective ammunition, and drone kickbacks, these cases have convinced many Ukrainians and key Western donors that corruption is systemic rather than incidental. In a country at war, where billions in aid flow through the government, this perception is politically lethal: it weakens Zelensky’s moral authority, fuels opposition calls for early elections or a negotiated exit, and makes it far harder for him to maintain the unified domestic support he needs to negotiate any peace deal with Russia.

Trump is treating the resolution of the war in Ukraine exactly like the complex property deals that defined his career. In real estate, you do not get a skyscraper built by negotiating with only one tenant. You bring every interested party to the table. Landowners, banks, regulators, neighbors, anchor tenants, but also the mayor and the mob are gathered around the table. You construct a deal in which everyone walks away feeling they won something valuable. No one loses face. Everyone gets a piece of the upside. That is precisely the framework he is applying now: get the United States, China, Russia, Ukraine, and Europe all aligned so the final agreement leaves every capital with tangible wins. So, he has to entice Russia with the prospect of what Hong Kongers call, “Make Money-La”.

Make Money-La

China is the key to solving both the North Korean problem and the problem of Russia and Ukraine. That is why Trump has been carefully pursuing a strategy to bring China to the negotiating table first. By cutting off the energy and cash flows from the Mexican cartels, Venezuela, Iran, and America’s Deep State, and by threatening to

close the Malacca Straits too, the US created the pressure that compelled China to not just talk but to reconsider its domestic economic strategy. The current centralized control approach is not just glitching the Chinese economy. It is glitching the world economy. The US hardly has to say that any attempt by China to repeat what happened in Hong Kong will not be acceptable to the US or, more importantly, healthy for China. In other words, the US is asking China to return to its entrepreneurial roots and restore the Deng Xiaoping view of the world, which is to accept that it does not matter if the cat is black or white as long as it catches mice. The strategy is what Hong Konger’s call “Make Money-La”. So, the choice is stark. End humanity or make Money-La. China’s very DNA is to make Money-la. This will be even easier now in a world dominated by dollar-convertible stablecoins and Bitcoin.

Thus, the offer is not about the deals the press reported on. Yes, Nvidia will now sell more of its chips to China. Yes, China will also buy 200+ more Boeing’s and a bunch more boatloads of soybeans as well. But something much more consequential is now in play.

Rock and Roll, Burgers, Blue Jeans and Brands

Remember that culture ended the Cold War. Not missile exchanges. It was Rock and Roll, burgers and blue jeans. As a reality TV expert, Trump understands modern culture well. He said at the summit, “Just as many Chinese now love basketball and blue jeans. Chinese restaurants in America today outnumber the five largest fast-food chains in the United States, all combined. That’s a pretty big statement.” So, the two sides agreed to create a Board of Investment to discuss future Chinese investment in non-sensitive U.S. sectors. That means everything from stuffed toys to fast food, fast trains. We can expect sales of cultural exports and imports between the US and China to soar. The Chinese once sent live pandas to the US as a sign of friendship (remember Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing?). Now they’ll send their fast-food chains and top retail brand names.

China needs to do this. They have only created two truly global brands – Huawei and Haier – in spite of the size of China’s economy. Haier did this by moving production into the US back in 2016. They were so successful at manufacturing inside the US that they ended up buying GE’s home appliance business, which they still run. China’s firms need to meet the most discerning consumer on earth, the American retail market, if they are going to create the kinds of brands that can truly lift national incomes.

The era of competing on cheapness is over. Now they must compete on quality and produce not just in China but globally. Haier is already a Harvard Business School case study for becoming a great manufacturer in the US (see here for their famous sledgehammer strategy). The question is, who is next? Hisense? Midea? TCL? Gree? Luckin Coffee? Wallace?

The Invisible Bridge

Instead of trying to pick which firm is going to win here, try to frame it as a bridge that many such firms will cross. This is the start of an invisible bridge from “Made in China” to “Owned by China”. This is a bridge that can lift the next several hundred million Chinese citizens into high-income status without creating the political pain that arose from the export-led strategy. This is exactly what Western Europe did in the 1970s. BMW and Mercedes did not just sell to America. They became American brands in the eyes of American buyers. It’s the same with Toyota, Honda, Sony, Samsung, and LG. This bridge has been crossed before. By Japan. By South Korea. By Europe. Now China, too, begins its crossing, stepping confidently into the future. Instead of being merely the cheapest employees of the global capitalist system, they have done a management buyout and have now become owners of it.

America wants China to know that there are treasures awaiting on the other side of this bridge, including magical devices like NVIDIA’s Blackwell chips and the Vera Rubin platform. The drama around Jenson Huang’s presence mattered. Had he not joined the President’s plane in Alaska, China might never have been allowed to buy the (lower-grade) magical keys to the technological Kingdom of Abundance, such as NVIDIA’s 50 petaflop Blackwell chips and the Vera Rubin GPUs. They would have continued to rely on smuggled versions. This is far from ideal for big businesses. But he made the plane, which means direct sales of NVIDIA chips are set to expand, even if certain conditions still need to be met. One of these conditions is in the realm of spy games.

Spy Games

To cross the bridge, China must agree to stop using spy games like Salt Typhoon to wage war with the US. This means the American spy games need to shift gears, too. This shift is not just for China. It is also for Russia. Putin’s biggest concern is about America’s Deep State. Trump may have good intentions, but the dark shadow of the Deep State is extremely powerful. Being a spy himself, Putin understands very well how these spy games work. He needs a lot of proof that he won’t have to keep going into battle with America’s dark side. Remember that Putin’s complaint is often characterized as anger about NATO expansion. But his bigger issue is the Western intelligence communities’ turbocharged efforts to meddle in politics on Russia’s borders. He says the war in Ukraine was created by America’s Deep State.

Trump does not disagree. He is shutting down all the means by which the Deep State engaged in color revolutions in Eastern Europe, like USAID. He is going after the NGOs that facilitated all this. The DOJ just charged the Southern Law Poverty Center, an organization backed by the glamorous donors on the left, from Soros to Clooney, which seems to have been bankrolling leaders and members of extremist groups. They’ve been charged with “wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering “. Secretary Bessent just announced that the IRS is going after all those who facilitated cash transfers to terror groups. This includes the Minnesota day care scandal but will no doubt become part of the broader effort to shut down such NGO’s.

Trump is calling it out. After the Summit, on Air Force One, he was asked whether he had confronted Xi about spy games and cyber espionage. He was extraordinarily blunt, saying, “I did. And, he talked about the attacks we did in China. You know, what they do, we do too. We spy on them, too.” He went further, saying, “we do a lot of stuff that you don’t know about and you’re doing things to us that we probably do know about”. He positioned the situation with pragmatic realism, acknowledging that both are operating in the same dangerous but necessary strategic terrain. The message is clear. We both need to end the spy games and focus on the real work. America’s CIA and spy agencies will continue to do their work, but the darker meddling side that operates without Presidential approval or in spite of Presidential wishes will now be constrained.

The message is clear. China (and Russia) can access America’s treasure chest of valuable tools if China crosses the bridge. But, America has its own bridge to cross. Spygames on the American side are going to stop, or at least abide by new rules, too.

Bitcoin and Digital Rails

America’s rapid shift onto Bitcoin, stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), and programmable digital rails (via the CLARITY Act, GENIUS Act, Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, and BlackRock/Goldman/Visa/Mastercard infrastructure) is part of the hug.

By moving the global monetary order onto US Dollar-based blockchain rails that the U.S. and its tech/finance allies largely control at the protocol level, Washington creates a situation in which everyone else has to play ball. Beijing can either plug its own digital infrastructure (including its mBridge CBDC ambitions) into the new American-led programmable dollar system on U.S. terms or risk being relegated to a slower, less liquid, less programmable parallel sphere while the West builds the next-generation financial architecture around it. The American Deep State will find it much harder to move money around in a vastly more transparent world, too. There is much more to be said about all this, but we’ll leave that for another Substack.

Cosmic Order

You can be sure the intelligence community understands the symbolism of the Temple of Heaven, even though the press and the public are clueless. They understand that Trump and Xi did not conclude this historic event with a signing ceremony, pens, and documents on a table because it was not about a transaction or a contract. Instead, they went together to the Temple of Heaven, the ancient complex built in 1420 by the Ming Emperor Yongle. It is the exclusive circular imperial altar on a mound dedicated to abundance. For over six centuries, from the Ming and Qing eras, till now, emperors have come here each spring to pray explicitly for bountiful harvests, which has always been the ancient Chinese measure of national prosperity, food security, and economic well-being. “Good harvests” meant fertile fields, stable grain prices, thriving trade, and the material flourishing of the people. The hall’s very name, Qinian Dian, translates directly to this prayer. Its architecture, with pillars representing the seasons, months, and solar terms of the agricultural calendar, was engineered as a cosmic instrument to secure “feng tiao yu shun” (风调雨顺), which means favorable weather and timely rain, so that abundance flows.

This temple’s circular, triple-eaved design includes blue tiles symbolizing the vault of Heaven, four central pillars for the seasons, twelve middle pillars for the months, and twelve outer pillars for the hours of the day. This architecture and design embody the ancient cosmogony that Heaven is round and Earth is square. The circular halls representing Heaven resting on square bases representing Earth symbolize the harmonious relationship between the human world and the cosmic order. The emperor alone mediated between the two realms to maintain cosmic harmony and the Mandate of Heaven itself.

Abundance is the keyword. China and the US both see a world that is shifting from scarcity to abundance. Both see this as a Kardashev level spiritual elevation for humanity. The temple’s very architecture, including the circular halls representing Heaven resting on square bases representing Earth, symbolizes the harmonious relationship between the human world and the cosmic order. For centuries, it was the place where the emperor, as “Son of Heaven,” mediated between the two realms to ensure peace, prosperity, and legitimacy. In choosing this sacred site over the usual protocol, the two leaders sent a message louder than any communiqué: this hug is not a transactional deal. It is a restoration of cosmic order. It is an invocation of harmony and shared prosperity for the generations to come.

It is a Taijitu (太极图). In the quantum geopolitics of our time, where everything is entangled, the image of Trump and Xi walking side-by-side through the Temple of Heaven is itself the most powerful agreement of all. Each acknowledges the other as the greatest leader in history, hence all the over-the-top mutual compliments.

What makes this choice of location even more extraordinary for China is its own modern history. During the Cultural Revolution, countless ancient temples and sacred sites were deliberately destroyed as symbols of feudal superstition. The Temple of Heaven survived largely intact. It stands as a living reminder of a heritage once rejected and now being reclaimed. By bringing President Trump here, President Xi publicly reconnects contemporary China to the ancient cosmology of the Mandate of Heaven, the idea that legitimate rule flows from alignment with a higher cosmic order. By choosing this sacred ground over a formal signing ceremony, both leaders implicitly submitted to something greater than themselves: the higher cause of human survival. Just as emperors once humbled themselves before Heaven to secure good harvests and harmony, Trump and Xi subordinated rivalry, ideology, and short-term gain to the imperative of preventing kinetic war in the nuclear age and of achieving what is now possible - abundance. In that moment, the hug was no longer merely diplomatic. It was a ritual restoration of cosmic order. In the quantum geopolitics of our time, their appearance at this specific temple site marks an agreement to move from petty geopolitics towards civilizational wisdom.

An Army of Industrialists

The presence of more than a dozen top U.S. CEOs, including Elon Musk (Tesla/SpaceX), Tim Cook (Apple), Jensen Huang (Nvidia), Larry Fink (BlackRock), Stephen Schwarzman (Blackstone), Boeing’s Kelly Ortberg, and many others, turned this from a mere presidential photo-op into a strategic industry endorsement. Their presence, representing a $4.7T contribution to the world economy, tells us that this is not just one man’s view. It is the American industry’s view. That’s America’s Army, too. A war with America’s armies, whether in uniforms or in sneakers, would glitch the global supply chains, shatter markets, and destroy the very prosperity these companies have built. Cooperation is the only rational and solvent path forward. President Xi agrees. Xi led the way at the summit by calling for “partnership over rivalry,” and “a new era in US-China relations.” These leaders understand economics and history. They know that collaboration on trade, technology, AI governance, climate, and global stability is not surrender. It is survival. It is the only way to deliver the growth their citizens demand and the security their nations require. The presence of Musk’s 6-year-old son also sent a meaningful message. This is an America that is making a commitment to future generations.

Jung’s Shadow

If Carl Jung were to analyze the meaning of this particular event in this particular temple, Grok tells me he’d say this is where the light meets the dark. It’s where heaven meets earth. It’s where China’s communal Yin meets America’s individualistic Yang. What has occurred at the Temple of Heaven is a moment of profound archetypal significance. It is nothing less than the meeting of the shadows on the world stage, and the beginning of a coniunctio oppositorum — the sacred marriage of opposites — between America and China.

America, for decades, has lived as the great Yang: outward, expansive, rational, solar, masculine in its drive to conquer, to innovate, to project power and light into every corner of the globe. It is the archetype of the Hero, the Explorer, the Builder. Yet every hero carries a shadow. America fears limits, dreads decline, and suffers from the repressed knowledge that endless expansion eventually exhausts itself. Moneymaking by itself has left America in what the philosopher John Vaervake calls a meaning crisis.

China, by contrast, has long embodied the great Yin: inward, containing, receptive, lunar, feminine in its capacity to absorb, to endure, to hold the patterns of the cosmos within itself. It is the archetype of the Wise Old One, the Mother of Ten Thousand Things. Yet its shadow, too, has been heavy. China has rejected its own ancient soul during the Cultural Revolution, suppressing the very Mandate of Heaven that once gave it legitimacy, having a deep fear that its own depth and tradition might render
it weak in the modern world.

Circumpunct

This Chinese temple, The Temple of Heaven, is where opposites cease to be enemies and become partners in a greater wholeness. Tensions can remain, of course. But the civilizational step can be made together. We are talking about squaring a circle. It’s an Axis Mundi. Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man (c. 1492) is the iconic Renaissance drawing that shows the ideal human figure inscribed simultaneously in a circle (symbolizing the divine, heavenly, or cosmic proportions) and a square (the earthly, material world). It portrays the human as the microcosm of the universe, a living axis mundi (world axis) bridging the two realms, much like the emperor’s ritual role at the Temple of Heaven.

Another close architectural parallel is the Pantheon in Rome, a classical Western temple whose massive dome (representing the heavens) features a central oculus, which is an open “eye” to the sky, directly connecting the earthly interior to the divine realm above, symbolizing cosmic order and communication with the gods. A circumpunct is where the individual meets the infinite.

Notice the shape of a tokamak or stellarator nuclear energy chamber. That is circumpunct, too, and one that has placed us all at the center of this current geopolitical dilemma.

A single dot, or tiny square, perfectly centered inside a circle. It’s the philosopher’s stone in alchemy. It’s a universal symbol of unity, the microcosm inside the macrocosm, and the divine spark at the heart of the cosmos.

All this integration only happens when we meet our shadow. It is not enough for Trump to say “we’ll get our Deep State under control”. He has to prove it. So, he was blunt: “We spy like hell on them too. We do a lot of stuff to you that you don’t know about.” And, yet there they stand together at the center stone. That single candid acknowledgment, Trump’s own words after the summit, is pure Jungian gold. It is the moment the ego admits the shadow exists and thereby begins the work of integration.

So, what happened as they met? Trump has been bringing the hammer down on the Deep State.

Notice that the American pharmaceutical companies were not at the summit (here) with one notable exception. Illumina’s CEO, Jacob Thaysen, was the only life-sciences representative in the 17-CEO delegation because the company sits at the exact intersection of the hug. Precision medicine and genomics are now seen as strategic as semiconductors or AI. Including Illumina (while Big Pharma CEOs were absent) shows the summit prioritized high-tech, high-value supply-chain stabilization over traditional pharma. China had just banned Illumina’s gene sequencing equipment in response to Trump’s punitive tariffs. Its inclusion and the exclusion of the others is thus not random. Trump hit pharma with TrumpRX. Essentially, pharma agreed to stop charging Americans a multiple of the prices they charge international customers. Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Novartis, Sanofi, GSK, Gilead, Genentech, Boehringer Ingelheim, AbbVie, and others all agreed. But, that’s not the most important blow.

It was convenient timing that the US started bringing charges against Anthony Fauci’s team at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) just before the summit. David Morens, Fauci’s former right-hand man, is the first of (probably) many who now have to explain why they made certain decisions around the COVID virus (like why he bragged about being able to destroy evidence if a FOIA request was ever made).

COVID Origin Story

What’s the relevance? The narrative on the proximal origins of the COVID virus and the motivation behind the vaccines is about to change. This is part of the summit deal. The US will and must tell the world that China is not entirely to blame for the COVID virus or for the now well-documented ill consequences of the novel vaccines that were created to treat it. On May 12th, the day before the summit, Dr. Ralph Baric announced his retirement. He is the Fauci-backed virologist who is said to have developed the COVID virus which he then sent to the level 4 lab in Wuhan (illegally or incorrectly using NIH funds), asking the team there to add the spike protein (gain of function) which would make it more easily able to infect a human. Coincidence? The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had already suspended Baric, a tenured professor at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and a member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), and barred him from receiving further money for his virology studies on May 7th. HHS has now begun formal debarment proceedings. Baric calls the charges “bullshit”, but one guesses he must be worried now that Presidents Xi and Trump are sharing insights into the true origin of COVID.

A CIA whistleblower testified under oath to Congress on May 13^th, the opening day of the Summit, saying the Fauci team found multiple ways between 2021 and 2023 to bury the lab-leak story even though they knew it was true. NIAID, a military entity, and USAID appear to have been at the heart of it. All this is about setting the stage for a new narrative that reallocates the blame away from China and toward the American Deep State. This problem of blame allocation has been a major driver of tensions between the US and China (see my article Pishi and Porcupine from November 2022). If it wasn’t entirely China’s fault, the world needs to know. Now they will.

All this is also going to open the door to unraveling the links between American biological weapons programs and other efforts to create and release viruses as a “more humane” approach to warfare than war itself. Start here with Mike Benz’s shocking analysis here.

Biolabs

All this now opens the door for the US to at least partially vindicate Russia’s claims about American-built (Black and Veatch) biolabs in Ukraine. The New York Post exclaimed on May 11^th that, “the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, is investigating more than 120 biological laboratories abroad that were funded by US taxpayer dollars for decades, as part of an effort to end potentially risky experiments with viruses pursuant to President Trump’s Executive Order, prohibiting ‘gain-of-function” research”. These are the labs that Victoria Nuland (former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and US Ambassador to NATO) testified not only exist but are not secured. In Congressional testimony, and in response to a question from Senator Rubio, she said, “Ukraine has biological research facilities, which, in fact, we are now quite concerned Russian forces may be seeking to gain control of. So, we are working with the Ukrainians on how they can prevent any of those research materials from falling into the hands of Russian forces should they approach.” If the blame is allocated away from China and it can be shown that Russia was right about American biolabs in Ukraine all along, it allows a rapprochement between the US, China, and Russia.

To remind you, you won’t read about these bio stories in the mainstream press because pharma has been the largest single source of advertising revenues. They simply can’t report on this without sacrificing their revenue streams. This is why Trump made such a huge effort to get certain media firms into friendlier hands before the upcoming midterms. This is why Dina Powell was in Beijing representing Meta. She is Trump’s close ally. It is also why the Ellisons (also close Trump allies) took control of CNN. We can expect stories that are friendlier to Trump to begin filtering into mainstream media as we get closer to the midterms (though the LA Times reports, “Two press freedom groups that own shares in Paramount Skydance are demanding to see the company’s books and internal documents, citing allegations that the company’s leaders may have promised favors to the White House to win approval for Paramount’s deal ”.

If true, China and Russia will then be positioned very differently in mainstream media. We’ll see a conversion. The “bad guys” won’t just be Russia and China anymore (at least on these issues). Western scientists and pharma firms will be forced to bear some share of the blame.

The American Deep State sees this imperative very clearly and continues to fight against it. Those most associated with the Deep State are doubling down.

I went up to the North Korean border on my way to China a couple of weeks ago. Why? Because both China and the US are edging towards normalizing the North Korean economy. This means the North Korean border checkpoints may soon become like Check Point Charlie in Berlin - a museum rather than a live checkpoint. Technology is changing the world. Even North Korea. Reuters writes, “Growing trade ties and new border infrastructure show Beijing is drawing Pyongyang back into its orbit – and nudging its isolated neighbor toward a long-awaited reopening – as U.S. President Donald Trump signals interest in reviving talks with North Korea.” China is investing heavily in the border area. We need to listen to the sounds of construction and the relative silence on this issue.

As of late April 2026, the construction around the top of North Korea has become a fully integrated, high-capacity logistics mesh designed to keep Pyongyang both functional and tethered. It looks like preparation for integrating North Korea into China’s economy. This makes sense because North Korea has the last large pool of cheap labor on Earth. This strategy will also give China greater access to the Pacific. We can think of North Korea as an island, even though it is really a very large peninsula (thus proving my point that islands and peninsulas are the most important places now. But the depth of the construction suggests that China seeks to make it not only an industrial hub but also a critical element of its geostrategic presence. China wants direct access to the Pacific—specifically the Sea of Japan (East Sea). Their efforts reveal that they, too, understand what I’ve called “Archipelagic” strategy. Silt

China is effectively a “landlocked maritime power” in its northeast; it can see the ocean from the village of Fangchuan, but it cannot reach it without passing through a 17-km gauntlet controlled entirely by Russia and North Korea. Here’s the catch. China owns neither bank of the river. The northern bank is Russia, and the southern bank is North Korea. To reach the salt water, a Chinese vessel must get explicit permission from two of the most unpredictable regimes on earth to transit a tiny but critical corridor they don’t control

Even if Russia and North Korea said “yes” to unlimited transit tomorrow, China’s path is physically capped. Over 55% of the estuary is impassable due to accumulated silt. Also, the Friendship Bridge (ironically) stands in the way. This Soviet-era rail bridge connects Russia and North Korea. But, it is notoriously low. The bridge’s clearance is so minimal that it prevents any modern commercial cargo ship from passing under it. Only small, flat-bottomed boats (under 50 tons) can clear the span. Then there’s ice. The river freezes solid in the winter, meaning this “passageway” is effectively a wall of ice for several months of the year.

Just last week (April 21, 2026), Russia and North Korea celebrated the structural connection of the new Khasan-Tumangang Road Bridge. But, intelligence reports suggest the new bridge has a clearance of only 7 meters (about 23 feet). That is effectively a permanent “No Entry” sign for any ship larger than a small fishing trawler. By building a new bridge at the exact same height as the old Soviet rail bridge, Russia and North Korea have ensured that even if China dredges the river (which would cost as much as the Pinglu Canal), they still can’t get a commercial vessel under the “ceiling.” This new link, while a logistics boost for the Russia-NK axis, is a tactical wall for China. By building a new, two-lane girder bridge with similarly low clearance, Russia and North Korea have effectively “locked the gate.”

It must be maddening. Apparently, you can stand on a Chinese observation tower, see the waves of the Pacific, and smell the salt air, but you are legally and physically barred from reaching the ocean. Silt, mud, and geopolitical obstinence are all in the way. So close and yet so far.

This 17k Tumen River gap is the only thing standing between China’s rust-belt provinces, including Jilin, Heilongjiang, and the Pacific. Currently, China is forced to send goods south to Dalian or through Russian/North Korean ports, adding massive costs and friction. During President Putin’s visit to Beijing in May 2024, Putin explicitly pledged to hold a “constructive dialogue” with North Korea to grant China navigation rights to the Tumen estuary. It won’t be easy. For China to use it, they would need to dredge a 100km channel through the river and a 50km underwater trench into the sea floor. To make it a “high-tech future” waterway, China would need to dredge a 100km channel and a 50km underwater trench into the seabed, an investment that would rival the $10B Pinglu Canal.

The Pinglu Canal

For those not tracking all this, the Pinglu Canal story is the ultimate “High-Tech Future” counter-move to the “unproductive past” North Korea epitomizes. While the world tracks the Tumen River and the Strait of Malacca, China is literally building a “Malacca Hedge” by carving a 134km path through the mountains of Guangxi to shorten its connection to the South China Sea. It is said to be the largest and most ambitious water infrastructure project since the founding of the People’s Republic.

The Pinglu Canal is a fascinating engineering paradox. While it will cost significantly less than the Three Gorges Dam, it involves moving three times the amount of earth. The key is that it is a $10.4 billion gamble to redraw the map of Southeast Asia. Currently, goods from inland China (Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan) have to travel east to the Pearl River Delta (Guangzhou/Hong Kong) to reach the ocean. This is the “legacy” route, which is congested and indirect. The Pinglu Canal will connect the Xijiang River (the main artery of the inland south) directly to the Gulf of Tonkin (Beibu Gulf). It shortens the transit distance by roughly 560 kilometers. This is a huge metabolism boost, being able to move more cargo than the Panama Canal moved in its first decade. Shipping time for inland goods will drop from a month to 7–10 days. It features three massive double-lane lock complexes (Madao, Qishi, and Zhoushou) designed to handle 5,000-ton vessels. These locks use recycled water systems and AI-driven navigation to ensure the canal doesn’t drain the local water table or stall during droughts. While it doesn’t bypass the Strait of Malacca entirely, it significantly improves the efficiency of the “New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor” (Chongqing to Singapore). It’s a move to ensure that, even if the coast is blocked, the interior is hardwired into ASEAN markets.

So, one can understand why China wants to build further alternative access points to the Pacific. I’d like to remind you that the existential driver here is not about factory output and exports. It’s about fish. China needs protein. If you look at wild-caught marine protein alone, the Pacific provides over 90% of their marine catch. Overall seafood (fish and crustaceans) currently accounts for approximately 20% to 25% of China’s total animal protein intake. If the Pacific maritime routes were ever restricted, China would lose a significant portion of its “premium” protein overnight. The Pacific access points are being built to reflect China’s efforts to protect its protein supply chain while it tries to shift from fish hunter to fish farmer (Leopard-Style). This is why projects like the Pinglu Canal and the Dandong Trade Park are so vital. They aren’t just for electronics; they are designed to move refrigerated “protein logistics” more quickly and securely from Pacific and ASEAN partners (such as Vietnam) into the Chinese interior.

Dandong Trade Park: The Industrial Anchor

The “Dandong Cross-Border Trade Import Processing Industrial Park” is a new $57 million facility in China’s Dandong City. They broke ground for it on January 5, 2026. It is the cornerstone of China’s “Managed Dependence” strategy for North Korea. While the world focuses on the drama of the New Yalu River Bridge, this industrial park is where the actual economic plumbing is being installed. As of April 2026, this project has transitioned from a conceptual zone to a high-velocity processing hub.

This park isn’t just a place to swap boxes. It is designed to ensure North Korea remains an upstream commodity supplier while China keeps the downstream profits. China is essentially extending its industrial sovereignty to access North Korean raw materials, especially graphite, molybdenum, and rare earths. These will now cross the border into China and be processed inside the park. The park is physically tethered to the new customs facilities. It uses automated “Truck Entry Lanes” that link directly to the park’s warehouses via a dedicated loop, bypassing local city traffic. The park has integrated blockchain-based tracking. This allows Chinese firms to monitor the “metabolism” of North Korean trade in real time, knowing exactly how much material is coming in and ensuring that the North Korean regime benefits from the arrangement. China will process mineral ores, including North Korean ore, and refine them for use in Chinese EV batteries and semiconductors. They’ll also be leveraging low-cost North Korean labor (often via specialized day permits) to produce high-volume goods for the Chinese domestic market. A dedicated “Guomen Bay” section handles cross-border e-commerce, allowing North Korean “branded” products (like health supplements and traditional medicines) to be sold directly to Chinese consumers via livestreaming.

By moving the processing of North Korean resources to a park within China, Beijing ensures North Korea provides the raw, currently “unproductive” mass labor; China provides the high-tech processing. It turns the entire DPRK into a sovereign industrial suburb of Liaoning Province. By centering trade in this specific park rather than decentralizing it across dozens of smaller border crossings, Beijing has created a single, massive chokepoint. If Pyongyang misbehaves, China doesn’t need to pass a new law; they simply “upgrade the software” or conduct a “safety inspection” at the Dandong Park.

The Dandong Langtou Airport reopened this week (April 26th) after a massive runway extension. It can now handle eight times the pre-renovation throughput. This isn’t for tourism; it’s designed to attract “electronics and logistics investors,” specifically targeting the Dandong-Sinuiju trade zone. One publication describes the expansion like this: “The expanded 2,600-meter runway can now accommodate B737-800 and A320neo aircraft at full load, raising annual capacity to two million passengers—roughly eight times pre-renovation throughput. Local authorities expect the upgrade to attract electronics and logistics investors, who can take advantage of the Trans-Eurasia rail corridor that passes through the city. Russia is already a beneficiary of China’s new approach. The precedent is already in place. Since mid-2023, China has used Vladivostok as a “Domestic Transit Port,” trucking goods from Jilin and Heilongjiang directly to “Blue Water” access without the friction of international exports. This is the “economy upgrade” Russia desperately needs for its East.

Malacca Hedge

President Trump just negotiated the Major Defense Cooperation Partnership (MDCP) deal with Indonesia. It is forcing China to accelerate all efforts to bypass the Strait of Malacca. Roughly 80% of all of China’s oil imports pass through this narrow 3km-wide gap. In the past, Indonesia had remained geopolitically neutral. Now, they have granted the US blanket permission to fly military craft over Indonesian territory. In the past, this permission was only granted on a case-by-case basis. Now, U.S. assets

like the P-8A Poseidon (maritime surveillance aircraft) and B-1B Lancers can patrol the 900km length of the Malacca Strait with unprecedented agility. This effectively turns Indonesian airspace into a “high-velocity monitor” for everything entering or exiting the Pacific.

The deal also includes the co-development of subsurface and autonomous systems (underwater drones). On April 6, 2026, an Indonesian fisherman near Gili Trawangan (right at the entrance to the Lombok Strait) hauled in a 3.7-meter-long, torpedo-shaped drone. This wasn’t some hobbyist toy; it was a high-end Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) with some very revealing features. The discovery caused a firestorm in Jakarta and Canberra because of where it was found and what was inside. The spot it was found in is one of the key passageways from the Pacific into the Indian Ocean. China is a country that has limited ways to move goods and protein in and out of the country.

China and North Korea have a lot of people to feed. Failure to feed North Koreans would create a serious problem for China. I once spent some time with Helmut Schmidt discussing the North Korean problem (see here). He had been an advisor to South Korea on the potential for reunification. In short, he said it could never be allowed to happen because the North Koreans were not capable of being productive workers. It’s not a peasant worker state. It’s a feudal state. You work to not be killed, not for cash. This presents a serious problem for China and all the neighboring states because, unlike East Germans, the population cannot be made productive without massive efforts. So, keeping North Korea and China fed is a high priority. It should be a high priority for the world because the destabilization of the Chinese economy is a problem for the global economy. One can see why Trump is trying to find ways to both pressure and reach an accommodation with China. It is a delicate balance and a delicate situation.

Japan

It is becoming even more delicate as Japan aligns more closely with the United States and remilitarizes. Japan’s government has just announced it is abolishing its long-held ban on lethal weapons sales abroad. No doubt Japan’s capacity for manufacturing modern military capability is very high. Foreign Policy writes, “On April 17, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer Ikazuchi transited the Taiwan Strait. It was the second such passage by a Japanese warship in 10 months, yet Beijing’s response was far harsher this time. Relations between Beijing and Tokyo have degenerated sharply since Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s comments last November that Japan could come to Taiwan’s defense if China attacked.”

On April 9, 2026, Japan’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that a ballistic missile was launched from North Korea and landed just outside Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). This followed a period of intense activity, including a larger salvo of ten missiles reported in mid-March. This April 9th event prompted Tokyo to issue a formal alert, as the flight path directly challenged Japanese maritime security zones. It highlights the “irregular trajectory” capabilities the regime is perfecting—targeting the gaps in Aegis-class defense systems.

The persistent nature of these tests—reaching seven launches already this year—underlines your point about the North Korean regime functioning as a “war warehouse” that is simultaneously testing its own “sovereign insurance” while fueling conflict elsewhere.

Kim Ju-ae

Kim Jong Un may be the leader now, but his daughter, Kim Ju-ae, has now quietly made her debut onto the geopolitical scene. She is potentially a signal of a profound structural shift. South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) has officially shifted its assessment: they now believe she has completed her initial “successor training” and is being internally treated as the heir apparent. State media has recently begun using the term “Hyangdo” (Guiding Leader) to describe her. In the North Korean dialect, this term is strictly reserved for the Supreme Leader or the designated successor. In the hermetic world of North Korean dialect, words are weapons of rank. She is now increasingly present in policy-heavy discussions, not just military parades.

She is 13 years old.

Ju-ae is being used as the “face” of the technology they do prioritize—the kinetic kind. In March 2026, state media released photos of her not just observing, but driving a tank during army training and firing pistols at an ammunition factory. This is about proving that she has the “Blood of Mt. Paektu” and the tactical competence to lead a nuclear state. Mt Paektu has just been designated a UNESCO Global Geopark, which implies the UN is also nudging the peace process along.

The Blood of Mount Paektu (or the Paektu Bloodline) is the sacred, mythical foundation of the Kim family’s absolute right to rule. In North Korean ideology, it is the ultimate “sovereign brand”—a claim that only direct descendants of the nation’s founder, Kim Il Sung, possess the “revolutionary purity” required to lead. It is the reason Kim Ju-ae, at only 13, can be treated as a “Guiding Leader.” The bloodline overrides age, gender, and even political experience. State propaganda claims Kim Il Sung launched his “miraculous” guerrilla raids against Japanese invaders from secret camps on Paektu, and that’s where Kim Jong Il was born in one of these secret camps under a double rainbow and a glowing star (though records suggest he was actually born in a Soviet military camp in Russia). Every major policy shift or missile test is often preceded by a photo of the leader riding a white horse on the slopes of Paektu. The Leopard tells the story of Don Fabrizio Corbera, the Prince of Salina, head of an ancient Sicilian family, as he slowly comes to realize that the world he once ruled is collapsing around him. The family has a gorgeous villa, Donnafugata, with hundreds of rooms that he cannot afford to repair or heat. The paint is chipping. Leaks are springing. But he dines with a full silver service. Italy’s old world is no longer generating any cash flow, and the new world is dominated by uncouth, enterprising upstarts who will soon be known as The Middle Class. The Prince of this Sicilian Kingdom has a nephew, Tancredi, who falls in love with the daughter of the local mayor, Don Calogero Sedàra, the quintessential commercial “Jackal/Hyena.” Calogero is “New Money”. He is greedy, shrewd, and lacking any moral fiber, but he has the cash liquidity that the prince lacks. So, he lets Tancredi marry Angelica. Tancredi knows the old world but also sees the new one, and realizes that if the aristocracy fights the revolution, they will be effectively deleted. So, he joins Garibaldi’s rebels. He utters the famous line: “If we want everything to remain as it is, everything must change.”

Tancredi decides to install a “New UI” on the same old power structure to ensure the Salina family keeps its “Admin Privileges” in the new Kingdom of Italy. We are going through a similar systems update right now, with warfare as violent, chaotic, and consequential as that of Italy's Risorgimento, the period of the novel. Like then, the fight is over new technologies and new operating systems versus old hardware, old hardwired thinking, and an old OS.

The Risorgimento (meaning “Resurgence”) was the 19th-century political and social movement that consolidated different states of the Italian peninsula into the single Kingdom of Italy. We can think of the Risorgimento as a “Forced System Merge.” It was the process of taking a fragmented, legacy hardware environment, comprising regional kingdoms, duchies, and the Papal States, and overwriting it with a unified, nationalist “Operating System.” Italy’s Risorgimento was a geopolitical refactoring that shifted borders but failed to update the incentive structure. It replaced a ‘Lazy King’ with a ‘Greedy Bureaucrat. Don Fabrizio, the Prince, perfectly diagnoses the “System Update” of the Risorgimento, realizing it isn’t an upgrade to abundance, but merely a change in the type of predator. He spoke from deep personal experience. He was a Prince in real life, witnessing what happened to Europe after the 2nd World War. He said,

“We were the Leopards, the Lions; those who’ll take our place will be little jackals, hyenas; and the whole lot of us, Leopards, jackals, and sheep, we’ll all go on believing ourselves the salt of the earth.”

How interesting that President Trump just released a shocking tweet about jackals and hyenas. He wrote, “The Fake News Media and the Deep State are the Jackals and Hyenas of our time. They scavenge for lies while the Lions and Leopards are building a great future for our country. They couldn’t stop the show last night, and they won’t stop the Abundance Transition. We have the code, we have the light, and we have the TRUTH! MAGA 2026!” I am not arguing that Trump is a literary master, citing a great novel. I am arguing that we are going through a similarly violent and consequential transition. Many symptoms of this transition are right in front of our eyes, but without understanding the context, it is hard to see why these symptoms matter.

For example, the White House registered alien.gov and aliens.gov. The disappearance and murder of many of the top military nuclear scientists, like General McCasland. The strange behavior of the troops of the old system, including the dramatic suicide of Matthew Livelsberger and now Cole Tomas Allen, the shooter at the Hilton. There’s a through line here that is important for us all to understand.

A New Operating System

Go back in time. Understand the transitions humanity has already made. We went from:

From hunting to farming.

From sails and wind dependence to steam ships and coal dependence.

From coal to oil.

From carving materials to meet a need to crafting materials from the atomic level.

From healing wounds to editing genomes

From writing code to allowing code to write itself.

All this is part of a long progression of human evolution where we have moved from our early apelike tendencies of smashing bones (captured by Stanley Kubrick in the opening of Space Odyssey: 2001) to studying bones, to today’s 3D printed scaffolds from CMFlex, which makes Hyperelastic Bone D-printed synthetic bone graft made of hydroxyapatite (the mineral in your bones) and a biodegradable polymer. As of 2026, it is being used in patient jaw surgeries. Surgeons “print” (at the nano level) the exact shape needed, and once implanted, the body’s own cells move into the “mesh,” turning it into real bone while the synthetic scaffold dissolves. Titanium-ALON hybrid lattices for skull and facial reconstructions. These are not solid blocks; they are printed with specific porosities that allow blood vessels to grow through the metal, “merging” the machine and the organism. As of March 2026, a new biomedical trend involves depositing Titanium Aluminum Oxynitride (TiAlON) thin films onto 3D-printed titanium implants. This creates a “hybrid” material that combines the toughness of titanium with the extreme hardness and corrosion resistance of the oxynitride ceramic. We’ll come back to ALON, Aluminum Oxynitride, a crystal-clear substance like glass, but which is almost impossible to break. The point is that today, thanks to innovation and transition, there is a cocktail of engineered proteins and “Bio-ink” that can be injected into a fracture or bone lesion, creating an instant, hardened bridge that recruits local stem cells to “patch the hole” in weeks rather than months.

All this means that now we treat the body like software. We don’t “fix” the bone; we reinstall the growth protocol. We have moved from “Smashing Bones” (orthopedics) to “Architecting Osteogenesis” (bone-coding). Only Neanderthals, mobsters, old-school political leaders. Notice that those who want to suppress certain voices and technologies want to smash bones these days (go to war, beat up their opponents). But, modern wars are increasingly fought by disabling the infrastructure or causing the soldier so much pain that they can’t reach for a gun. Bullets are becoming very yesterday.

Humanity keeps evolving. Yet, humans keep resisting change. The question is who of us is a leopard, a lion, a jackal, a hyena, or a sheep? The sheep, by the way, will continue to have absolutely no idea what I am talking about.

Elon Musk put the situation starkly. The only way we can outrun a $35T deficit is to adopt a whole new operating system for society. We are not just talking about upgrading to AI and robotics. We are talking about moving from linear to exponential, from control to contributor architecture.

North Korea and China

I just got back from China and a trip up to the North Korean Border. It made me realize the global nature of the transition. China’s economy is vastly worse than I realized. The ghosted malls where every single shop is shut are not imaginary. There are pockets of activity. Shenzhen is booming. But Shenzhen stays afloat only because it has effectively “co-opted” Hong Kong’s remaining capital. It is the one place where the public can still afford to play with the new “code” because of the constant influx of HK dollars and international visitors looking for $ 100-a-night deals at a Rosewood Hotel and high-tech but cheap consumer electronics.

Beijing is fine too because so much capital is stored there, and it is, therefore, a resource allocation center. China is also innovating at the highest level and with epic speed. But the average person is feeling too much pain. This helps explain the sudden uptick in arrests, firings, and events, which indicate there is a major argument over how to resolve all this, especially since President Trump will be arriving in Beijing in mid-May.

The problem is not just oil. Yes, the US has blocked the flow in the Straits of Hormuz. The IRGC amusingly tweeted that they controlled the Straits, not the US, effectively saying, “blocking the Straits is our job.” The Iranians see clearly that the new operating system of the world economy is an American code that doesn’t need Iranian oil. The world will soon be powering itself with atoms, via stars in a box – small modular nuclear reactors and soon, nuclear fusion. Yes, China has substantial oil reserves, more than most. But there’s still a timeline. What has Trump done? He is shortening China’s timeline by threatening to close the Strait of Malacca. The deal he’s just done with Indonesia, the Major Defense Cooperation Partnership (MDCP), increases his ability to control and potentially close this critical choke point. The Strait of Malacca is the carotid artery of the old world. Over 23 million barrels of oil pass through it daily, and nearly 60% of China’s maritime trade flows through this narrow needle. The agreement potentially allows America to have “Omniscient Visibility” over the Strait, even though Joint Special Forces training and Autonomous Systems, as mentioned in the Pentagon statement (April 13), are already in place.

North Korea

North Korea has been suspiciously quiet lately, considering that all the other members of the “Axis of Evil” are starting to cooperate with the Great Satan (the US). Cuba is negotiating its way into the US. Venezuela is already co-opted into cooperation. Iran’s few remaining IGRC members are fractured and without centralized command. They do not represent the government. President Trump and China are quietly collaborating on removing the IRGC stragglers from holding the global economy ransom. Yes, China opposes the US action in Iran, but they more deeply oppose being “Shanghaied” by the very people they’ve been supporting. The tolerance for the IGRC hurting China is zero. America’s tolerance for China supporting the IGRC is zero, too, hence the Treasury Department’s letters to Chinese Banks and Secretary Bessent’s sharp tone. What’s China’s tolerance for some random act by N Korea that destabilizes a fragile situation with the US in the run-up to the Trump/Xi meeting? Zero.

What’s the story in North Korea? It’s basically the last member of the “Axis of Evil” still standing. It has all the features of a disaster: zero productivity, zero protection of humans, and an enclave for off-grid, non-USD transactions. The US wanted to shut Iran down, not only because of the nuclear issue, but also because it was a way of circumventing the USD system. Iran was a loophole. N Korea is a bigger loophole. The US is closing all the exit doors and forcing all parties to use USD.

This means North Korea is now the Ransomware Bug. It’s not just a glitch; it’s a piece of malicious code sitting on the System BIOS. If you touch it the wrong way, the whole motherboard bricks. After a flurry of tests on April 19, 2026, where they launched SRBMs armed with cluster-bomb warheads, Pyongyang has gone remarkably quiet. In the world of “Code,” silence usually means one of two things: a system crash or a major background update. The “Malware” Logic of Kim Jong Un’s new “hostile two-state” doctrine (formalized in February) may mean he has deleted the “Reunification.exe” file entirely. He isn’t bargaining anymore; he’s trying to “brick” the U.S. alliance by making nuclear war an operational warfighting tool. This is the “Ransomware” threat: “Pay me in legitimacy and space-tech, or I delete the whole world economy”. We need North Korea experts to pay close attention now.

Russia

Russia has everything to lose, too. They are the epitome of the old old/gas OS. A new nuclear future of abundance based on transparency is not what Russia’s current leadership aspires to. Russia is bogged down in a 20th-century “Old Oil/Gas” war—relying on massed artillery, trench lines, and physical territory—the true theater of power has shifted to the Digital OS. Their “bullets vs. code” strategy is hitting a wall because modern warfare isn’t just about hardware; it’s about the code that runs it. You can build 1,000 tanks (hardware), but a single software update to a drone’s targeting AI (code) can make those tanks obsolete overnight. Russia uses a top-down, “analog” command structure. Their opponents are increasingly using mesh networks and AI-driven “Uber for Arty” apps that allow soldiers to call in strikes via a tablet. You can blow up a server farm, but if the code is backed up in a distributed cloud (like Starlink), the military's “brain” keeps functioning. Also, by operating on the Old Oil/Gas OS, Russia is tethered to physical geography. Pipelines and refineries are massive, stationary targets for precision, code-driven strikes (such as long-range autonomous drones). Their entire economy is a “legacy system.” It doesn’t scale or pivot like a digital economy. When the “Gas OS” gets hacked or sanctioned, the whole country’s “hardware” starts to rust.

What’s The Ask?

The US is “The U.S. isn’t trying to ‘defeat’ China or even Russia; it is trying to ‘administer’ both. By controlling the straits and offering swap lines (via the UAE), the U.S. is telling the CCP: ‘We both know you can’t smash your way into the future by breaking bones. You must code your way in—and in this system, the code only runs on Liberty and Dollars.” By telling Russia that the US will help end the war in Ukraine with China’s help, it is also signaling that Russia will have access to the newfound abundance, too.

Think of it this way. When I was in China speaking at HSBC’s big annual client conference last week, everyone wanted to know “who is winning the technological race”. The US or China?” My answer is both. Genius is distributed evenly throughout humanity. The brilliant scientists and technologists in the US and China are watching each other like hawks. Innovations by one will quickly be copied by the other. Humanity is sure to get ahead as a result. But, as Jenson Huang said last week, winning is not about how many chips you sell. It’s about compelling customers to join your ecosystem, your operating system, your code, not the other guy’s code. US GitHub or Chinese GitHub. This is a battle of operating systems. But, not just between Chinese and English. But, between an old approach and a new one.

The old approach involves centralized command control. It’s not working for China, as is clearly evidenced by the condition of the economy despite its enormous technological advances. It’s not working for the US either, given the debt and fraud situation the US now faces. Here’s the key. If China crashes out, it bricks the whole world economy. If the US defaults, it bricks the whole world economy. If the US and China, or the US, China and Russia, were to ever enter a kinetic conflict, it bricks the whole world economy. So, let’s not go to war over Taiwan, the US says. But all rests on whether China decides to be more like Taiwan or decides to repeat Hong Kong. Trump’s view, arguably, is that if China doesn’t become more like Taiwan and accept the “Taiwan Update,” that too will brick the system. Let’s end the war in Ukraine because it too is bricking the system. And I suspect both the US and China share a common interest in managing the rising risks posed by North Korea.

The impasse requires a solution that lifts all these nations (and many more). Happily, we live in a moment when new technological solutions make this possible: new forms of energy, new materials, and new capacity to manufacture and deploy intelligence, which means record-fast problem-solving. At any other point in history, the only way to deal with a global debt problem of this magnitude would be to go to war. Raze everything. Eliminate all the Capex. Destroy the ownership records. Make the debt vanish. Issue new currency. Marshall Plan the future and start again (unless the war destroys Earth, which these days, given technology, it probably would.)

Think of it this way: The blockade of the Straits isn’t just an act of war; it’s an Access Denied message to the old world. As energy moves from oil to SMRs and money moves from the Iranian dark web to USD convertible Stablecoins, the ‘smash bones’ logic of extraction and dark money vanishes. But, to enter the Abundance OS, the only way to profit is to contribute to the Code.” Being a bug is glitching the system. You must become a feature. You must accept a centralized world where the state no longer holds the keys. In this new decentralized world, the protocol holds the keys. This is not because the US controls the protocol. It is because the US, and everybody else, will be subject to the same protocol.

By shifting to a world with abundant energy, materials, internet connectivity, and transparency, there is no longer any need to worry about choke points like the Strait of Malacca, the Strait of Hormuz, or North Korean nuclear threats. Ever since Ras Laffan and Saudi facilities got hit and damaged by Iran, we’ve seen a strange spate of fires and explosions at major refineries and processing centers: Port Arthur in Texas, Tuapse in Ukraine, Viva in Australia, BP Cherry Point in Washington, HPCL in India, Pemex Olmeca in Mexico. Naturally, this has given rise to conspiracy theories.

By putting the world economy on a public rail, no one can be deleted – not a country, not an individual, not a refinery – without the whole world seeing it. We all move into a glass house together.

ALON

But the new glass is not breakable or fragile. It’s ALON. It’s a perfect example of the future to come. ALON isn’t glass; it’s a polycrystalline transparent ceramic that’s four times harder than fused silica glass and 85% as hard as sapphire. It can stop a .50 caliber armor-piercing bullet, yet you can see right through it. It was perfected by the U.S. Army Research Center and Raytheon. They found the new material by adding a nitrogen patch, moving away from traditional sintering techniques that involved baking powders, and instead architecting its atomic lattice. New materials, as I keep saying, are now being created atom-by-atom-by-atom.

The invention of ALON proved that you don’t need a different material to get a different result; you just need a better arrangement of the atoms. Similarly, we don’t need a ‘new’ humanity to achieve abundance; we just need to ‘re-arrange’ our financial and energy systems into a more transparent, cubic structure. ALON wasn’t found in a mine. It was debugged in a lab at the foundational atomic-lattice level. We can do this for everything now with the new Universal GitHub/OS.

The core issue here is that the new operating system requires an alignment of intent and values. These innovations must be used for good, not for war. When the world is fully “co-opted” into the USD-Abundance OS, starting a war is like deleting your own hard drive. The interconnectedness is so deep that the aggressor “deletes” themselves the moment they pull the trigger. Kharg Island

Kharg Island is now in the spotlight because Kharg Island is the ultimate “single point of failure” for the Iranian regime. If the islands in the Strait of Hormuz are the weapons Iran uses to project power, Kharg is the vault that funds them. It contains a massive storage buffer of over 30 million barrels. To put it bluntly: whoever controls Kharg Island controls the financial oxygen of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Without the revenue flowing through those deep-water berths, the regime cannot fund its internal security apparatus or its regional proxies.US Marines are seemingly on the way. Iranian IGRC forces have been rushing in (Man) shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles (MANPADS) to the island and actively laying anti-personnel and anti-armor mines along the beaches and possible landing zones to repel the potential US Marine assault. Now they hear the American President scolding allies for failing to show up in time and urging them to “take” Iran’s oil and gas while they can.

The standoff over Kharg Island has evolved into the ultimate game of mutually assured economic destruction. We were looking at a scenario where both Washington and Tehran are actively threatening a literal “scorched earth” policy over a 5-mile-long, twenty-square-kilometer piece of coral. Iran has a massive coastline, but almost all of the water along the mainland Persian Gulf is entirely too shallow for Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs)—the massive supertankers required for global export. Kharg Island, sitting about 20 miles offshore, is a geological anomaly surrounded by naturally deep water. Over the decades, Iran has routed massive subsea pipelines from its inland oilfields directly to this 5-mile strip of coral. Because of this depth, it is the only place where Iran can efficiently load its crude onto the world’s largest ships. The U.S. has explicitly stated that if Iran continues to choke off the Strait of Hormuz, the American military will drop all “decency” and completely wipe out the oil infrastructure on the island (TIME: Kharg Island in Sights). Seizing or destroying it isn’t about capturing territory; it is about permanently amputating the IRGC’s primary financial circulatory system. Iran’s doctrine dictates they will sabotage and destroy their own oil infrastructure rather than hand the leverage over to Washington.

Furthermore, their “scorched earth” strategy extends beyond the island: Iranian leadership has declared that if they lose Kharg, they will unleash relentless, unrestricted attacks on the vital energy infrastructure of neighboring Gulf countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia (The Cradle: Iran Mobilizes for Ground Assault). If Iran goes down, they plan to take the global energy economy and millions of civilians who need water (H20) with them. The fight is over control of the molecules that pass through these waters and these facilities. The hostage here is all of us. Iran’s bet is that we can’t survive without these molecules of oil, gas, petroleum byproducts, and drinking water. America’s bet is that this event is so important that it will quickly catalyze the necessary shift in global demand to American molecules and to a new era of energy from atoms.

Water

H20 is one molecule that matters more than oil and gas. Iran hit the first one in Kuwait. Millions of humans in the region entirely depend on desalination plants. Saudi’s Ras Al-Khair plant is the world’s largest hybrid water desalination plant. It supplies 1 million cubic meters of fresh water daily for 7m people. There is no backup. These are sitting duck targets. These desalination mega-complexes are massive, fragile, and impossible to fully shield from drone swarms (CSIS: Could Iran Disrupt Gulf Water Supplies?) Water is thus a vastly greater vulnerability than oil. Any hit to water processing plants would mean millions would face an existential thirst crisis within 72 hours. See here for a detailed analysis of this vulnerability. The irony of Iran’s maritime blockade is that water itself has been weaponized more than oil. If Iran makes good on its “scorched earth” threats, it wouldn’t just cause an energy crisis; it would trigger an existential thirst crisis and the need for fast mass evacuations (see vulnerability map here).

Then Iran started hitting desalination plants in Kuwait, which gets over 90% of its drinking water from desalination. This one plant is said to supply approximately 40% of Kuwait’s desalinated water needs. But, Iran accused the US, Israel and the UAE of having hit a desalination plant first, on Qeshm Island on March 8^th. All deny it, but Iran is using at an excuse. The next day the Iranians hit a Kuwaiti desalination plant.

We know that Iran now has highly precise targeting. We know because, in the early hours of March 27, 2026, Iran launched a coordinated ballistic missile and drone strike against Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, America’s primary forward location in the region. The barrage resulted in 10 to 15 U.S. service members being injured and caused significant damage to multiple KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft. However, the primary target was a Boeing E-3G Sentry (serial number 81-0005), one of the U.S. Air Force’s premier Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) command planes, valued at roughly $300 to $500 million. They literally don’t make these anymore – not since 1992. We only had 17 of them. The precision of the hit was staggering. Images from the aftermath show that the strike surgically targeted the aircraft’s rear section, completely shredding the tail and obliterating the plane’s massive, rotating AN/APY-2 radar dome. Hitting an isolated aircraft in the dark with a ballistic missile or long-range drone requires exact, real-time coordinates. Because major U.S. commercial satellite providers (like Planet Labs) had begun delaying their imagery of the Middle East, military analysts note that Iran almost certainly received the high-resolution satellite imagery and targeting data necessary to pull this off directly. So, we have to assume that those desalination plants are in the crosshairs.

The IGRC’s Handala network just showed off its hacking skills by gaining access to the Telegram account and the private emails of the FBI's head. The allegations swirling around that Patel is a dual national. Nothing is confirmed. I’d recommend against downloading anything because it’s likely your computer or phone will turn into a brick, or worse, if you try. The question is whether Handala got access to the unredacted Epstein files or information about US officials who handled the Epstein case. There’s a question about whether Handala hacked Israeli servers. If the answer is yes to any of this, this will be a bombshell event in American politics. Apparently, Handala also released the emails, names, and locations of key Lockheed personnel in Israel. Handala has given an ultimatum for the named Lockheed staff to leave Israel within 48 hours. Lockheed denies that such a breach occurred. Finally, Handala has suggested they have proof that Epstein is alive and well in Israel.

Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb

All the focus is now on Kharg Island, but Kharg only ensures Iran can sell its own oil. However, holding the islands of Abu Musa and the Tunbs allows Iran to monitor key shipping lanes and extend its territorial waters over the primary exit route used by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar. Analysts note that whoever controls these islands can control Persian Gulf shipping and potentially threaten up to 65% of the world’s energy supplies.

Both Iran and the UAE claim full sovereignty over these three islands. Iran took military control of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs on November 30, 1971, just days before the UAE officially declared independence and the British military withdrew from the region. The UAE inherited the territorial dispute because the Emirate of Sharjah claimed Abu Musa, and the Emirate of Ras al-Khaimah claimed the Tunbs. Iran justifies its hold by claiming that the islands have been part of the Persian Empire since the 6th century BCE and that it has never officially renounced its claim to them. The UAE disputes this, arguing that Arab Qasimi sheiks maintained control and administration of the islands throughout the 19th century and that Arab rule in the area was documented by the Portuguese as early as 1518.

Today, all the nations surrounding Iran are thus aligned in their determination to rid the region of this humanitarian threat, even if they now say they are pulling back from their alliance with the United States. The President’s gaffe regarding the future King of Saudi Arabia was serious. No doubt the Qataris are mad at the US for allowing the collateral damage to happen. The real fault, though, is with the Iranians. The tragedy here is that the Iranian people may miss this once-in-history chance to overthrow the mullahs who come from another culture and have a different ethos than the Iranians. If they do, then other islands will become important, namely: Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb. President Trump wants the UAE to take control of these. But, the UAE won’t touch these islands unless it is sure that Iran isn’t going to take aim at its desalination plants, energy infrastructure, hotels, and airport runways.

Qeshm

Qeshm Island is the largest island in the Gulf and serves as a frontline fortress. It is the heart of Iran’s “strategic architecture,” reportedly housing vast underground “missile cities” operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), packed with anti-ship weapons and fast-attack drone swarms. It is so vital that in early March 2026, the US targeted the island’s desalination plant to disrupt its operational capacity. Qeshm is the shield to Kharg Island, which is the prize.

Sirra, Socotra and Perim/Mayyum Islands

Sirra is the “key” to the Gulf of Aden. While it is geographically tiny, and technically a peninsula, Sirra Island is arguably the most strategic 10 acres in the Red Sea corridor. Sirra is a volcanic, rocky island sitting directly in front of the Old Port of Aden. For 1,000 years, whoever held the castle on Sirra held the city of Aden. It was the primary defense against the Portuguese, the Ottomans, and eventually the British in 1839. Because of its elevation and position, it offers an unobstructed 360-degree view of the shipping lanes approaching the Bab el-Mandeb. It’s called The Unsinkable Lookout for good reason. Sirra is the “Ground Zero” for the recent shift in Yemen. On January 7, 2026, Saudi-backed PLC (Presidential Leadership Council) forces successfully recaptured Aden from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC). As of today, April 2, 2026, Sirra is occupied by the Homeland Shield Forces, a specialized unit affiliated with the Saudi-backed government.

By the way, Bab el-Mandeb, means “Gate of Tears”.

While the Persian Gulf islands (Abu Musa/Tunbs) are the “hard power” priority, the Aden-Socotra-Perim triangle is the “maritime infrastructure” priority. There is intense speculation in D.C. that the Trump administration is negotiating a “Maritime Management Agreement.” In this deal, the UAE would provide the funding and “Port Authority” expertise to revitalize Aden’s economy in exchange for long-term security leases on the surrounding islands, including Sirra and Perim.

Perim, also known as Mayyun, an island, sits smack in the center of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, right opposite Djibouti. That, of course, is where we find a gathering of the superpowers: the US, China and Russia are all in and around Djibouti. Whoever controls Mayyun physically overlooks the passage of roughly 10-12% of all global trade. It is the ultimate tollbooth for the maritime supply chain. The contest for Mayyun is not theoretical; it is actively violent right now. Just days ago, on April 2, 2026, Yemeni government forces stationed on Mayyun had to raise their combat readiness to the highest level after thwarting a sudden, unidentified airborne landing. A mysterious military transport aircraft attempted to touch down on the island’s airstrip but was intercepted and forced to withdraw by defending troops. Analysts suggest it was a highly organized attempt to quietly seize control of the installation, proving that the island remains a razor-edge flashpoint amid the escalating regional wars. There are now reports that the US intends to land troops there in an effort to preempt the Houthis who have now entered the conflict on the side of Iran.

Mayyun is the linchpin between Europe and Asia. It marks the spot where the Bab al-Mandeb Strait splits into two navigable channels. The Houthi’s are trying to damage and control it. Why? Because, ships currently avoiding the high-risk waters of Hormuz by loading at the Saudi Red Sea port of Yanbu face a brutal geographic reality: that crude must still transit south through Bab el-Mandeb to reach Asian markets. Taking and securing Mayyun is rapidly becoming the only viable option the U.S. has to ensure this critical energy “Plan B” remains operational. But, spokesman Yahya Saree was exceptionally blunt on Thursday, warning that their “fingers are on the trigger.” Any foreign landing on Mayyun will be interpreted as a direct invasion, a flashpoint that would almost certainly trigger massive, asymmetric attacks against the coalition fleets escorting the tankers. Saree is the designated official to broadcast threats against the U.S., Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. When the Houthis declare “direct military intervention” or claim strikes on targets like Eilat or Tel Aviv, it is Saree reading the official military communiqués.

The island formally belongs to Yemen, but the civil war shattered that sovereignty. Over the last several years, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recognized the island’s supreme value and systematically turned it into a military fortress. Satellite imagery revealed the UAE building a massive, 1.15-mile runway right across the rock, capable of handling heavy military transport planes and attack aircraft. While the UAE officially claims the base is operated by allied Yemeni government forces (specifically those under Tareq Saleh). Some argue that the UAE used the chaos of the Yemeni civil war to secure a permanent, strategic foothold over the strait, mirroring their strategy with Socotra Island (more below). It allows them to project power into the Red Sea and counter rivals like Qatar and Turkey.

The bottom line is that if the Houthis manage to close Bab al-Mandeb while Iran maintains the toll at Hormuz, the global economy would be extremely vulnerable to a logistical collapse.

Socotra

Socotra has been in the news quite a lot in recent years, though hardly anybody pays attention. Since 2018, the United Arab Emirates has treated Socotra as a de facto extension of its own territory. This isn’t just about soldiers; it’s about “Infrastructure Sovereignty.” The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) effectively controls the island’s administration. The UAE has built hospitals, schools, and a modern telecommunications network. They even provided Socotra residents with work permits for Abu Dhabi and conducted their own census. For years, the only reliable way to get to Socotra was via weekly chartered flights from Abu Dhabi, completely bypassing mainland Yemen’s customs and immigration. In January 2026, Saudi Arabia reportedly pressured the UAE to withdraw its formal military presence. When UAE troops pulled back under this pressure, commercial flights were abruptly canceled, leaving hundreds of international tourists stranded on the island for weeks.

Socotra is important for many reasons. From Socotra, you can easily monitor the entire Gulf of Aden, the Bab el-Mandeb, and the movements of the Iranian navy in the Indian Ocean. This is why the Trump team views Socotra as a critical node in its “Maritime Security Corridor.” By supporting a UAE/Saudi presence there, the U.S. ensures that the Houthis (and by extension, Iran) cannot use the archipelago as a drone-launching base against Red Sea shipping. There have been persistent (though officially denied) reports that the UAE and Israel are collaborating on a signals intelligence (SIGINT) base on the island’s eastern tip.

The Socotra archipelago is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to many rare species and some that are found nowhere else on Earth, like the Dragon’s Blood Tree. Local activists and the Yemeni government accuse the UAE of “environmental looting”—removing rare plants and stones to decorate palaces in the Emirates and building military infrastructure that destroys fragile coral reefs. The allegation is that the geopolitical “owners” are so focused on the military value of the rock that the 60,000 residents are facing a severe food and water crisis. By slamming shut the Straits of Hormuz and threatening to flatten the oil infrastructure on Kharg Island, the few remaining Iranian clerics are giving us the chaos needed to catalyze an entirely new future. This moment is rewriting history by shifting us away from reliance on molecules to reliance on atoms, from being powered by combustion to being powered by computation. It is redrawing the map of possibilities. Here’s the truth. This crisis is not destroying the future. It is forcing us into it.

The world now relies on molecules of oil. But we have already created small nuclear reactors that are half the size of a car. It’s a star in a box. The US put these Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) on Globemaster C-17’s and transported them in March from March Air Reserve Base, California, to Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The reactor was then trucked to the Utah San Rafael Energy Lab for testing and evaluation. This was the first-ever air transport of a nuclear microreactor — a demonstration of deployability. It was called Operation Windlord (also known as Operation Gigawatt in the media). Each unit produces 5 megawatts, enough to power 5,000 homes. Clean. No emissions. They rely on advanced TRISO fuel (TRi-structural ISOtropic particle fuel) that is meltdown-proof and proliferation-resistant. It’s safe. The Department of Energy calls Triso “the most robust nuclear fuel on earth.” TRISO particles are the size of a poppy seed (here).

They have been shifting their capital away from the management of molecules into the management of atoms. We think an energy conference in Saudi Arabia is about oil when it’s actually about TRISO. Saudi has been preparing for this shift for some time. KAUST University is all about building the cadre of personnel who know how to manage atoms instead of molecules. Saudi Arabia committed to the Peace Board not because they are somehow obliged to the current American President, but because they want to be owners of the control mechanism over this new form of energy. The new nuclear technology, which includes nuclear fusion, is not about a substance like enriched uranium. It’s about highly accurate attosecond laser frequencies. Nuclear fusion cannot be regulated by the systems of the past. But we get ahead of ourselves. People can’t even understand nuclear power flying in a box, let alone nuclear fusion.

Word is that the US is making it clear to friends and foes alike that a Valar Ward 250-based distributed nuclear power capability will be operational by July 4^th, 2026, in time for America’s 250^th Anniversary – the Semiquincentennial. That means it already works. Serious fireworks will mark the moment the world truly realizes that we’ve shifted from molecules in the ground to atoms in the sky.

Word is that the US is already deploying this capability in live war zones (several to choose from on multiple fronts right now). There’s no better testbed than a live warzone.

We have been here before. Every time an old system becomes too fragile, innovation steps in and renders it obsolete. The clerics in Tehran think they are closing a strait. In reality, they are opening the passage to a new world powered by stars in a box, atoms, and light.

The future just got a lot brighter.

Molecules to Atoms

Today, the world feels it has lost access to molecules and is panicking. The reality is that the US gained control of the largest assembly of molecules in advance. Oil. Gas. All petroleum byproducts, too: helium, bromine, naptha, and more.

The US has no shortages. Here is how the board was actually set:

The US first gained effective control or influence over the largest sources of molecules in the Americas. Who controls those molecules? Organized Crime Cartels and formerly hostile states.

Jan 3, 2026: Venezuela: Removed the leader, Maduro, and cut a cooperative/collaborative deal with the existing regime. Molecules now under US influence, if not control. The molecules are now under American influence. The US doesn’t strictly need those molecules, but this prevents adversaries from accessing them.

Feb 22, 2026: Mexico: Removed the leader of the CJNG cartel – El Mencho. In Mexico, the theft of fuel—known as huachicol—is a sophisticated, multi-billion-dollar industry primarily controlled by the CJNG and the Cartel de Santa Rosa de Lima (CSRL). Cartels use “surgical precision” to drill into Pemex pipelines, siphoning gasoline and diesel. In 2025 alone, over 11,700 illegal taps were identified. White House slows/stops the flow of molecules by cartels. Likely through a cooperative/collaborative deal with the existing cartel regime.

February 28, 2026: Operation Epic Fury begins with 900 airstrikes in the first 12 hours. Iranian leadership decimated. Command Control structure eliminated. Deals are being struck with the survivors.

March 2, 2026: Iran closes the Straits of Hormuz: The world loses access to most/all molecules from the Middle East. Panic begins.

March 3, 2026: Ecuador: U.S. and Ecuador launch a joint military offensive targeting cartels. Similar story to Mexico.

March 7, 2026: White House officially launches the Americas Counter-Cartel Coalition and dubs it “Operation Total Extermination”. This demonstrates that the US has no fear of a multifront multi-continent war.

March 18-19: Ras Laffan oil and gas facility hit and taken offline by Iran. Qatar declared a Force Majeure. The world lost access to the most important supplier of petroleum byproducts. The repairs, we are told, may take 5+ years.

Surely, we are in the midst of a historic disaster. That’s what every headline says.

But, if we dig into what’s happened, we see that there is a clear, well thought through strategy to force the world to stop depending on terrorists with bad intention’s and control over the key molecule choke points to a world where the US and its collaborators can supply not only every single molecule but also all shift us into a world that depends on atoms, not molecules. The transition and the solution.

Why is the US in no hurry to reopen the Straits? Why is the US seemingly unfazed by Iran’s scorched-earth threat to flatten Kharg Island, the most important oil/gas production facility in the country? Because the infrastructure is already redundant. The world is looking at a 2D map of the region, thinking that we all depend on the geography of molecules. The US is looking at a 3D map of the stars and seeing a future where atoms, space, and light replace molecules.

The Lexical Firewall

It is hard to see what I am saying for many reasons. One is that our imagination is blocked just like the Straits of Hormuz. It is blocked by a lexical firewall. We don’t have the words to explain the situation. We ask, how close was Iran to a nuclear weapon? We think we are talking about a nuclear warhead on an ICBM. The answer to that is – not very close. That becomes the “gotcha”. The President was wrong/misinformed. This is a forever war on false pretenses all over again. But, we need to ask, how close was Iran to a dirty bomb? That’s a very different kind of weapon. They certainly had enough nuclear material to do that. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and multiple intelligence/government sources in early 2026, Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium (specifically nuclear weapons grade - up to 60% enriched U-235) stood at approximately 440.9 kg (about 972 pounds) as of June 13, 2025—just before Israeli and U.S. military strikes on its nuclear facilities.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), SIPRI, and independent analysts consistently state that uranium-based dirty bombs are weapons of mass disruption, not mass destruction. But 972 pounds is a lot of disruption. On March 21, 2026, Iran launched two ballistic missiles toward the joint US-UK military base on Diego Garcia, a remote coral atoll in the Chagos Archipelago in the central Indian Ocean. It’s referred to as the strategically vital “unsinkable aircraft carrier” in the Indian Ocean. That was 2,500 miles from Iranian territory—well beyond the ranges Iran had previously publicly acknowledged for its operational ballistic missiles (typically claimed at around 2,000 km or less for many systems). It was aimed at America’s premier strategic security base for the Middle East. Happily, one missile failed, and one was intercepted. But the threat of a radiological hit to Diego Garcia is now real.

It may be that Iran has already deployed radiological weapons. Catherine Herridge is digging into this possibility by interviewing US military personnel who now have medical injuries (from Al-Asad in 2020) that are consistent with radiological exposure. Few want to acknowledge that this may have already happened. That would mean payouts. That would mean a massively elevated sense of fear. And yet, it would be an overwhelmingly good reason for acting against a group of people who had a long, well-documented history of doing very evil things and were refusing to agree to a deal in the Geneva Peace Talks. Add in the fact that the US had hacked into their street lights (here), their dentals crowns (note that Osama Bin Laden was worried that his wife had had such a dental tracker implanted according to Bloomberg back in 2016), and their eyeglasses (all the stories are gone now), their prayer apps, thus allowing the US to be privy to their actual real time movements and conversations, and it becomes easier to understand why there was enough reason to act. Remember, we live in an era of highly precise targeting.

Just to remind those who are too young to remember or so old they have forgotten:

Ayatollah Khamenei held 144 American hostage for 444 days from 1979 to 1981, sent suicide bombers to kill 241 US personnel (120 US marines) in their barracks in Beirut in 1983, bombed the US military complex at Khobar Towers in 1996 killing 19 US airmen, fuelled the Syrian Civil War (20-11 to now), the Yemen Conflict and backed the 2023 October 7^th attack on Israel. Domestically, they systematically murdered dissidents, intellectuals, women who did not adhere to their rules, homosexuals, and Iranian protestors en masse (in 1988, 2019, 2025, 2026). There are some who seem to think its ok for these folks to have access to weapons-grade enriched uranium. It’s strange, but many people from the LGBTQ community supported their tight alliance with Hamas in spite of the fact that the Mullahs and Hamas have a clear track record of beheading people with such sexual preferences. Many Americans and Europeans are aligning with the Mullahs even though the women of Iran are burning their burkhas, cutting their hair, smoking, and dancing at home and in the streets (violating Article 637 of Iran’s Islamic Penal Code) to show their opposition to the regimes and their great joy that the US is trying to help them dislodge the current leadership. One wonders whether this is just domestic American politics, where anything the President does has to be opposed, no matter how irrational a position that requires contorting into. This is a different kind of firewall, a mental firewall, that also blocks rational discussion of events.

The same lexical firewall happens when we say the words “nuclear energy”. Immediately, people are opposed to nuclear power because they are thinking of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and envisioning mushroom clouds. They don’t understand that nuclear fusion does not have meltdown risk and represents a profound expansion of energy at a low cost. No, nuclear means an existentially dangerous mushroom cloud. This lexical gap prevents us from making or seeing progress, even though technological solutions are advancing at an incredible pace. This matters because the linguistic map and the actual territory of geopolitics have been profoundly changed by new technologies. So, today’s actions seem inexplicable and dangerous to those who are working on yesterday’s understanding.

Think about it this way. The US is responding to Iran’s nuclear threat (dirty molecules) with a nuclear solution (stars in a box). Kharg Island is only the “Sword of Damocles” over the global economy because it holds us all hostage to our dependence on dirty molecules (oil/gas/dirty-bomb uranium). The US is forcing us all to walk away from our captors.

Just as the British forced the world from sail to steam, the U.S. is forcing the world from molecules to atoms.

But you say it will take 30 years of red tape, regulatory approvals, and $30b to build nuclear power plants, and we need gas in the car this weekend! Yes, there’s still plenty of gasoline in the US for this weekend.

But, what really matters is that The Star in a Box is already proven. We’ve had them in submarines since the USS Nautilus launched in 1958. We are just miniaturizing them now. And, now we have a parallel revolution.

We are not just moving from molecules to atoms.

We are moving from combustion to compute.

You see, the key to nuclear energy, especially nuclear fusion, is no longer in the nuclear material. It is in the materials we use to contain plasma. And, what has the White House already announced that hardly anyone has heard of or paid attention to? The Genesis Mission. That’s the commitment to take all the secret super classified technology that’s been developed and locked up in the National Labs – Los Alamos, Sandia, Lawrence Livermore – and juice it up with AI and access to the nation’s best (previously never before accessed and highly classified) data sets, best supercomputing capability, best minds and a new generation of semiconductors.

The announcement about semiconductor production moving to the US and the new Terrafab facility in Austin are not tangential. What is a semiconductor? It’s about arranging electrons. In 1945, we learned to smash atoms together to create overwhelming force. In 2026, we have learned to delicately line up atoms and electrons to create overwhelming force - a silicon chip. One threatens to take us into the dark ages. The other promises to take us into a new era of prosperity. We are learning. To be clear, Elon is not even manufacturing chips. He is aiming to manufacture intelligence itself, continuously improving the rate at which intelligence can be generated, intelligence density improved AND applied. We ar emoving from chips to units of intelligence.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi’s leader, is quoted as saying this on March 1^st, 2026, though I can’t find an original source. Even if he did not, the content is correct: “For forty years, the neighbors to our East have claimed to lead a revolution for the dispossessed. They have extracted billions upon billions of dollars from the earth—wealth that belongs to the Iranian people. Look at what they did with that wealth. They did not build a single modern industrial park that can compete with the world. They did not build a single high-speed road to connect their cities. They did not build a future for their youth. Instead, they built
tunnels for missiles (here). They built factories for drones. They took the bread from the mouths of their children to pay for chaos in Yemen, in Iraq, and in Lebanon. The tragedy is not just the war they have started today: the tragedy is the forty years of potential they have murdered.”

It is built on the belief that 21st-century sovereignty is defined by who controls the “AI stack.” This includes: critical minerals, computers & chips, and nuclear energy.

The sun is, of course, a massive nuclear power station itself. So, space-based solar power and other methods of harnessing the power of the sun are effectively forms of nuclear energy. Yes, we must break the nuclear firewall here too. Our friends in the Middle East have already made the mental jump. Saudi Arabia is leading through investment. Qatar signed up. The UAE and Israel are all in

All the neighboring nations now agree that the old clerics in Iran are not
just a problem. They are THE problem. Iran’s leadership has united regional
opinion against them by lobbing missiles at all their (Muslim) neighbors,
destroying valuable infrastructure that took years to build, from airports to
energy refining capacity to tourism confidence. They are united. They only
moved out of a hard life in the desert into modernity in the last three
generations and are not going to tolerate a small handful of terrorists keeping
them, and 93 million Iranians, and the world from reaching an abundant future. They are betting on the star in a box.

Shortgages?

OK, but what are we going to do about the huge shortages of gasoline and
diesel, and jet fuel, but also shortages of fertilizers, phosphates, and urea, as
well as ammonia, methanol, sulphur, aluminium, helium, bromine, and naphtha?
These may sound obscure, but they matter. Gasoline shortages are already
causing long lines across Asia, and governments are issuing “stay at home” orders and guidance to keep fuel usage low. Australia’s Energy Minister, Chris Bowen, recently confirmed Australia had only 34 days of diesel and 36 days of petrol. Luckily, Japan entered 2026 with one of the world’s largest stockpiles: 254 days of oil reserves (comprising 146 days of state-held oil and 101 days of private inventory), but it is short on diesel (distillates). Vietnam is cutting the work week to reduce fuel consumption.

Many are even more fearful about the hit to agriculture, semiconductors, and medicine. Fertilizers are petroleum byproducts. Nitrogen is the lifeblood of modern corn, wheat, and rice production. The Persian Gulf is the world’s “Ammonia and Nitrogen Engine.” Ammonia is the “Nitrogen Engine” that determines who eats and who starves. Urea is the world’s most critical nitrogen fertilizer. Without it, global crop yields (especially corn and wheat) could drop by 40% in a single season. Urea is made by combining Ammonia and Carbon Dioxide, both of which are derived almost entirely from Natural Gas (Methane). Natural gas accounts for 70% to 80% of the cost of producing urea. The world has lost 35% of its seaborne urea supply overnight, thanks to the closure of the Straits of Hormuz and the loss of Qatar’s LNG.

The ammonia and nitrogen engine seized up when the Iranians hit Qatar’s LNG plants at Ras Laffan Industrial City, the world’s largest natural gas liquefaction complex. Qatar Energy CEO Saad al-Kaabi confirmed that the damage to two mega-trains is so severe that it will take three to five years to repair. This effectively deletes 17% of Qatar’s export capacity (about 5% of the entire world’s supply) for the foreseeable future. So, Qatar has declared the situation a Force Majeure and announced a total production halt. That’s a problem because without Qatari LNG, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh's fertilizer plants have reportedly stopped production entirely. Without Qatari gas, these nations can’t even make their own fertilizer. Nearly 30% of ammonia originates from the countries currently behind the Strait of Hormuz blockade (Saudi Arabia, Qatar,
Iran, UAE).

The “Qatar phosphate connection” is the most overlooked part of the 2026 resource crisis. While Qatar is not a phosphate miner, it is the “Chemical Enabler” that allows the rest of the world to use its phosphate reserves. Sulfur is a
byproduct of Qatar’s massive natural gas (LNG) refining. It is converted into
sulfuric acid, which is the only chemical capable of “digesting” raw phosphate rock into DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) and MAP (Monoammonium Phosphate)—the fertilizers that keep global agriculture alive. Without Qatar, the world’s phosphate rock, including Morocco’s massive 70% to 75% global share, remains essentially useless in the ground. Qatar Energy can no longer follow through on the landmark 10-year agreement it signed in November 2024 to supply OCP Nutricrops (the Moroccan phosphate giant) with 7.5 million tons of sulfur. The world’s food supply has been tethered to a single pipeline running through Ras Laffan. Because the Strait of Hormuz is closed, 44% of the world’s seaborne sulfur (which also comes from Saudi and UAE refineries) is physically trapped.

The sulfur blackout equals a fertilizer famine. It also equals an EV Battery Metal Cliff: because Sulfuric acid is the primary solvent used in the high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL) of Nickel and Lithium. Without sulfur, the EV battery supply chains globally hit a literal dead end.

Then there’s the problem of helium and bromine. Helium is indispensable for
semiconductor manufacturing. It is used as a coolant for EUV lithography (the
machines that print the world’s most advanced chips) and for thermal management
during etching. There is no substitute. It cannot yet be made in a lab either.
The Ras Laffan facility in Qatar supplied 30% of the world’s helium. This
supply has vanished. So, the world’s biggest chip producers, in South Korea
(Samsung/SK Hynix) and Taiwan (TSMC), are currently burning through their 45-day strategic reserves. It is hard to see how the AI boom can happen without

Maybe that’s because we can’t see what’s happening anymore. This is the most “sci-fi” part of the Pennsylvania story. We aren’t just moving from heavy industry to high-tech; we have moved into a world where the factory is built twice. The old way you manufactured things was to “measure twice, cut once.” The 2026 way is to “simulate millions times, build once.” In other words, modern manufacturing happens in virtual reality first. It happens in computers, and with the assistance of AI. Only after the idea is perfected in that parallel, in visible reality, do we get to see it made in a physical factory. Plus, the key to modern manufacturing is no longer the product blueprint. It is the blueprint of the material itself. This is a key point worth taking a moment to understand, as it represents a profound revolution in humanity’s relationship to reality itself.

In the past, humanity had to start with a material and shape it into what we needed. A tree became a boat. A rock became a blade. A mountain of iron ore became a steel bridge. We were always limited by the ‘soul’ of the raw material; we could only build what the wood or the iron would allow. But in the new world, we are no longer scavengers of raw materials; we are architects of atoms. In this world, the constraint is our imagination because we can now build new materials atom by atom. What qualities and characteristics would I like a material to have? That is the key question, not what the material’s constraints are.

Supercomputing and quantum computing are vastly accelerating the process of new materials discovery. Google’s new AI tool, called GNoME (Graph Networks for Materials Exploration) has totally changed our world. Before GNoME, humanity knew of about 48,000 stable inorganic crystals. In one giant leap, GNoME discovered 2.2 million new structures. Out of those 2 million, the AI identified 381,000 as “thermodynamically stable.” This means they won’t just fall apart in a lab; they are the “holy grail” candidates for new batteries, superconductors, and—crucially for our story—new graphene-like layered materials that are both stronger and lighter than steel. This represents roughly 800 years of human knowledge condensed into a single research cycle. While GNoME finds the recipes, Google’s Willow Chip (released Dec 2024) is the hardware that can simulate the physics. Willow is a 105-qubit quantum processor – a computer chip, but a very sophisticated one. It completed a benchmark task in 5 minutes that Google says would take today’s fastest supercomputers 10 septillion years. While the chip was made in California, the problems it is designed to solve—like how a specific graphene molecule bonds with an iron atom—are exactly the “Hard Tech” challenges being tackled at NETL-Pittsburgh.

Most people in Pittsburgh don’t even know about the NETL, the National Energy Technology Laboratory, which is located in South Park. It is the only Government-Owned, Government-Operated (GOGO) national laboratory in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) network. The Pittsburgh site is a “Hard Tech” powerhouse, focusing on the intersection of carbon ore processing, advanced metallurgy, and digital twins in order to revolutionize how we build everything from batteries to bridges. The lab is currently at the forefront of a “Carbon Revolution,” finding ways to turn Pennsylvania’s traditional industrial legacies into 21st-century assets. Researchers there recently developed a low-temperature catalytic process that transforms coal waste into high-quality graphite and graphene. This reduces the required processing temperature from 3,000°C to under 1,500°C, making domestic production of “stronger-than-steel” materials economically viable. The lab specifically focuses on “carbon-metal composites,” which use graphene to increase the mechanical strength of construction materials and improve the efficiency of electric vehicle motors. These materials are also central to the space race.

The space race is critical to humanity’s future for many reasons, but in simple terms, it holds the key to unlimited energy, resources, internet connectivity, and strategic security dominance. Space is also the most important physics lab humanity has ever had access to. Zero gravity provides an operating environment in which certain ingredients and materials can bind that cannot do so under gravity. It has a distinct impact on physical material that cannot be replicated in gravity. The possibility of unlimited energy comes from space-based solar power, a fast-developing, clean, green energy source. It involves beaming energy in the form of radio waves or microwaves back to Earth. The space race is also about securing access to the massive reserves of Helium 3, which is super rare on Earth and essential for the development of nuclear fusion and quantum computing. It also represents the possibility that we obtain the raw and refined materials we need by mining asteroids and moving smelters and refining operations into automated, AI-led orbital and lunar factories. Overall, this means not having to rip up Earth to access materials and moving toxic production processes off Earth, where they’ll do less damage. Already, the Jet Propulsion Lab has brought back samples from Bennu, an asteroid, that confirm the presence of most of what is needed for high-tech.

In the 20th century, the Space Race was a competition of chemical rockets. Who could build the biggest explosion to escape Earth’s gravity? In 2026, the Space Race is a competition of atoms. Modern space exploration requires new materials with new qualities to both “get there” and stay there. These new materials must have greater strength, weigh less, and be more robust under harsh space conditions. To build a permanent presence on the Moon or Mars, we have to overcome three “insurmountable” physical barriers that traditional materials simply cannot handle. This is where the new materials discovered by AI (like GNoME) and perfected in Pittsburgh.

.The US Government recently announced the Genesis Mission. That’s the plan to accelerate new materials discovery by 10-fold through access to government-level supercomputing and a national AI strategy for all national labs. The Genesis Mission is the most significant shift in American scientific strategy since the Apollo Program. Launched by the Department of Energy (DOE) in late 2025, it is a “whole-of-government” effort to turn the United States into the world’s first AI-powered research superpower. It’s this generation’s “Manhattan Project.” Though that was about creating a single deadly weapon. In contrast, The Genesis Mission is about a single platform that can invent thousands of “weapons”, from carbon-neutral steel to cancer cures, at speeds once thought impossible. The core objective is to double the productivity and impact of U.S. research and development (R&D) within 10 years. To achieve this, the mission is building a unified infrastructure that connects the seventeen National Laboratories (including NETL-Pittsburgh) into a single “digital brain.” So, just as ChatGPT was trained on the internet, the Genesis Mission is training AI models on 80 years of proprietary federal scientific data. That’s data that neither Google nor OpenAI has access to. And, the labs become “self-driving”. Instead of humans moving pipettes or loading furnaces, the mission is to deploy robotic labs that use AI to design, execute, observe experiments, learn from failures, and instantly start the next ones.

There are other such efforts, like Microsoft’s MatterGen, which is essentially “DALL-E for Atoms.” Instead of asking for a picture of a cat, a scientist at a place like Carpenter Technology in Reading, PA, could ask MatterGen to “design a crystal that is 20% lighter than steel but 50% more heat-resistant.” MatterGen then generates a brand-new atomic structure that has never existed in nature. MatterGen isn’t a physical factory; it’s a generative AI model hosted on Microsoft’s Azure cloud. Because of this, it is currently “sitting” on the laptops and VR headsets of researchers at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and the National Energy Technology Laboratory in South Park. That means Pennsylvania-based researchers can use MatterGen like a “Google Search for Atoms.” They put in a request: “Give me a structure with high magnetic density and zero cobalt”, and MatterGen gives them a 3D atomic blueprint. When MatterGen (the brain) discovers the material, the researcher “walks through” it in virtual reality until there is near certainty that it works. Only then does the local Pittsburgh Mini-Mill (the muscle) try to forge it. This is how Pennsylvania has become a corridor for defence, aerospace, exotic materials and alloys. The old DNA has been repurposed into a new era of creation, where the state that once forged the world’s steel beams is now the state that scripts the world’s atoms.

The Epstein story is not about a lone wolf. The spirited denials of this (check out Shellenberger on Rogan) only confirm the terrible truth. His correspondence alone would have required a team of assistants. Managing the many complex projects he was pursuing with top minds in science, business, tech, intel, and politics would have required teams. The mix of spelling errors and grammar inconsistencies in the various emails is also a giveaway. Somebody inadvertently used the email well after he was dead and/or gone. It’s increasingly apparent (to me) that many people used the Epstein email. That’s the point. Epstein was the face of a machine. Given the many nations, intelligence agencies, networks, businesspeople, and politicians who were all active users of Epstein’s skill sets, methods, and networks, it matters that he was funding, advancing, and suppressing some of the most consequential and cutting-edge tech, thereby defining our reality.

All these challenges challenge our understanding of how the system really works. This is the “brain-breaking” truth: the system didn’t just tolerate Epstein; it didn’t just utilize him. It didn’t just create him a la Dr. Frankenstein. It is the monster. And if that is true, so are we, since we allowed all this to happen.

Whether Epstein is dead or alive is not so important. What matters is that the machine he fronted most certainly continues. We saw a rare “glitch in the matrix”—when Leslie Wexner’s lawyer physically threatened him mid-deposition to enforce silence. His own lawyer said, right in front of Congress, “We’ll kill you if you answer another question with more than five words”. A Hot Mic captured this. It revealed a terrifying truth: for the “High Priests,” the legal system is not a search for justice, but a containment protocol. It is a cage designed to keep the machine’s mechanics invisible.

But the machine is innovating. Maybe we have moved beyond “Epstein 1.0”, the era of physical islands, hidden cameras, and human procurement. Maybe we have entered the era of Epstein 2.0, where the honeytrap has been replaced by the data dragnet. As Whitney Webb explains, in this digital era, the machine no longer needs to lure a target into a bedroom. It simply datamines their life. The establishment’s defensive perimeter, the media, is being breached. As Larry Ellison secures CNN and Dina Powell takes the helm at Meta, the institutional hostility toward the President is being replaced by a pragmatic, if nervous, pivot. Even at The Washington Post, Jeff Bezos’s decision to purge the newsroom of both writers and (all the) photographers, it is a tacit admission that “pictures matter more than words”—and that the coming pictures and narratives, provided by the President’s evidence, may tell a story the old guard can no longer spin.

Yet, even as the “White Hats” celebrate this turn of the tide, the MAGA base remains in a state of high-octane frustration. They are waiting for a “Perry Mason” moment in a world that has more in common with The Wire. They seek courtroom justice for crimes so vast—from the engineering of forever wars to the shadow operations of the Epstein network—that the administrative machinery of the law simply cannot process them. In a system where state-sponsored terror is rebranded as “negotiation” and election irregularities are easily dismissed as “a hacker did it, not me,” the courtroom is less a hall of justice and more a hall of mirrors designed to ensure that no one is ever held accountable. The crimes currently being unveiled occupy a gray zone of administrative impunity. When a prior administration funnels billions into a conflict, or a "negotiating strategy" fuels a terror proxy, it is rarely "illegal" in the technical sense—it is simply policy, and that’s not illegal. Arrests remain a fantasy because the law has been meticulously engineered to protect the very machine that runs it.

Worse, efforts to prosecute individuals will lead to an old-fashioned civil war because so many will prefer to fight rather than be held accountable. The system is outnumbered by the wrongdoers. I should emphasize that the “wrongdoers” think they are in the right. Many of the people we are talking about are brilliant and have held the nation’s highest-level security clearances. They are sure that populism represents an existential threat to the traditional way of doing things. This is true.

Priests vs Populists

The core of this conflict is the collision between a secular priesthood and a populist insurgency. The priesthood—a class of technocrats, entrenched bureaucrats, and rule-makers—operates on a foundational faith: that the system is more important than the citizens it serves. To them, the “Process” is sacred, and globalism is the ultimate cathedral.

Naturally, they view the populist as the ultimate heretic—one who values power and common sense over the liturgical complexity of the administrative state. The “No King’s Day” demonstrations and the feverish cries of “Dictator” are more than mere political protests; they are the “soft civil war” of a clergy sensing its own obsolescence. As the accountability process gains momentum, we must ask: Will the High Priests burn the temple down via civil unrest to prevent the populists from seizing the altar? Or, will the Populists destroy the temple in their search for the truth?

This is why Trump is so intent on the following:

1. Getting the proof. Gathering the server data. Getting the bad guys to turn state’s witness. Showing the cash flows from the dark side that have lined the pockets of American officials (this is easy now, given AI + Palantir).

2. Showing the proof, knowing that nobody is going to change their mind because nobody knows what’s real and what’s unreal anymore. Thank you AI-generated content and fake news.

3. Producing undeniable and mythic level results by bringing a range of nations out of Communist control (Cuba) or kleptocracy control (Iran, Venezuela) back into a commitment to capitalism and personal freedoms. Conclude a Yalta-like Peace deal with the other superpowers, Russia and China, that allows a competitive collaboration without the risk of existential confrontation and the normalization of economic and political relations. Use these developments to mortally undermine the so-called Deep State both within the US and internationally.

Keep in mind that these proof points are not necessarily intended to secure prosecutions. They may be simply aimed at neutralizing the target. As Barbara Boyd explains here, Presidents can use Executive Order 12333 to go after their internal opponents. The idea is to launch counterintelligence operations as distinct from criminal investigations. History provides the template: the denazification of post-war Germany, the de-Baathification of Iraq, and the purging of secret police collaborators in post-Communist Eastern Europe. In these moments, the goal was not to jail every participant of the old regime, but to ensure that those who had “snitched” or subverted the system were disqualified from holding the levers of the new one.

However, there is a tension here between the administrative goal and the public’s appetite for blood. Much of the American public is currently baying for a “Scarlet Letter” outcome (the novel by Hawthorne)—the ritualistic humiliation of Hester Prynne, branded for life with the mark of her transgressions (having had sex and a child out of wedlock). But, the anger against the old regime was more deeply rooted than elsewhere, partly because of revelations that seemingly good dissidents were actually “crypto-communist collaborators” aiding the Soviets/State Security/Communist regimes, like former President Lech Walesa (who was apparently an SB informant under the Code name Bolek). Poland’s position as a frontline state in the Cold War (with a history of Soviet domination) amplified fears that Russian influence would persist through ex-communist elites. This made lustration not just about domestic justice but about national security and sovereignty—severing ties to Moscow’s legacy.

Poland’s first Lustration Act took effect in 1997 but by 2006 and again after 2015, amendments expanded the scope. Suddenly, the right-wing PiS government clapped down on over 700,000 academics, journalists, business leaders, and private sector people, subjecting them to a witch hunt. The PiS framed it as a moral reckoning. Economically, the rapid “shock therapy” reforms of the 1990s created winners and losers, with many blaming ex-communists (who often transitioned into business elites) for inequality. Lustration thus became a populist tool to address these grievances. Critics called Poland’s lustrations “social punishment without trial.”

To finish on lustration, consider the experience of Ryszard Kapuściński. He was a Polish journalist who witnessed many of the most important geopolitical transitions of the 20^th century – the demise of Haile Selassie, the leader of Ethiopia, the fall of the Shah of Iran, the end of Idi Amin’s dictatorship in Uganda, and the battle for post-Colonial Angola. He found he could not write about what was happening without facing grave consequences. The situation is similar today. The cost of explaining reality or offering an unpleasant opinion can be extremely high. So, he kept two sets of notebooks. One was for publishing real-time stories in the press. That was his day job. That notebook paid the bills. The other notebook was for speaking unspeakable truths that print media, TV and politics did not allow to be told. He published these later, after the fact. It has been said that he had celebrity status in Poland, because the Poles read his work on global politics as “thinly disguised commentaries on communist Poland”. Kapuściński describes lustration as a moment when one breaks free from fear. He said, “This unusual process, sometimes accomplished in an instant, like a shock or lustration, demands illuminating. Man gets rid of fear and feels free.”

De-Baathification in Iraq after 2003 is an example of lustration gone wrong. De-Baathification was essentially a systematic effort to exclude former Ba’ath Party members (Saddam Hussein’s people) who had dominated the regime since 1968) from government, military, security, education, and other public sectors. It began with CPA Order No. 1 (May 16, 2003), which banned the Ba’ath Party and removed all “senior party members” (the top four ranks: full members, branch members, section members, and group members) from public positions. It initially targeted about 1% of party members (around 20,000–30,000 people), but quickly expanded to include lower ranks through investigations and appeals. But, a second CPA Order No. 2 on May 23, 2003, dissolved key Iraqi institutions, including the 500,000-strong Iraqi Army, Republican Guard, intelligence services, and ministries tied to the regime. This left hundreds of thousands unemployed overnight, including mid-level bureaucrats and soldiers who weren’t necessarily ideologues or Saddam loyalists. The country, as we all know, completely fell apart.

Conciliatism

If Apotheosis is a hero’s victory and Lustration is a surgical purge, then Conciliatism is the “Great Bargain.” This is a doctrine that prioritizes the cessation of hostilities over the pursuit of punitive purification. It is a systematic preference for reconciliation-driven stability—a choice to favor inclusion and power-sharing over the “Scarlet Letter” of retributive justice.

Conciliatism draws its lineage from the most complex peace processes of the modern era: the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland, which brought former combatants into the halls of government, and South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). Research confirms that Boomers resist technological change, often out of fear or pride. Older Consumers and Technology: A Critical Systematic Literature Review (from Springer 2023) suggests that Baby Boomers (generally defined as those born between 1946 and 1964) exhibit some level of resistance to technological change and innovation. It does not help that Gen Z (1997–2012) and Millennials (1981–1996) continue to design everything from tech instructions to restaurant menus with impossibly small lettering. It’s unintentional sabotage. There are real side effects of design defaults that are optimized for younger eyes, habits, and the smaller screens youth prefer. It keeps the oldies out of the game. But, whatever the cause, the problem is that Boomers are blocking wealth creation.

Nowhere is this clearer than in housing. In Sydney, Boomers rattle around in $5m+ mansions, while young people fight to get any tiny rental property due to the 2% rental vacancy rate. The irony is that the solution already exists. We have modular housing. We now have 3D-printed Starbucks going up in the US in a matter of days.

The technology to fix the housing crisis is here. The young are ready to build tomorrow’s economy. The only thing stopping them is the stubbornness of the past.

Australia is barely beginning to deploy these new technologies. A company called Luyten is leading the way with 3D printing technology. The CEO of Luyten built a home for himself using this new methodology just to show that it could be done. It took three days. In Austin, Texas, where I now live, we already have entire 3D-printed communities. Check out Wolf Ranch. Australia’s 3D construction market is projected to hit USD 5.4B by 2026. In addition to the Luyten homes, there’s Contec, which is 3D printing cyclone-rated, fire-resistant duplexes in Tapping, Perth. These were built in just 18 hours using mobile robotics. They offer two-story, three-bedroom residences using specialised concrete that’s three times stronger than brick. That’s what the young want. They’ll move to be part of innovation.

It always happens where we least expect. In the US, our new tech center is Austin. Silicon Hills they call it, though it’s way beyond silicon. Austin and Texas generally has a massively diversified economy that includes oil, gas, space, Tesla, chip production, creative agencies, agribusiness and manufacturing. It is increasingly rivalled by Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, which is the epicenter of the famous Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill), powered by Duke, the University of North Carolina, and North Carolina State. It’s exploding in biotech, AI, cybersecurity, gaming (Epic Games), automotive production (BMW in Spartanburg), and enterprise software (SAS, IBM, Cisco, Lenovo, Red Hat). The number one location for corporate headquarters in America is now Nashville, Tennessee. Detroit is booming, having become the number one city in America for commercial and industrial designer density. It’s the #2 metro area for engineers and technicians, with more than 90,000 engineers, which is nearly three times more than the U.S. average and more than New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The Gold Coast in Australia is also benefiting from the same forces of change.

The pioneering spirit of the young and the financially displaced is set to transform the parts of Australia that the old folks write off. Where are they going? Today they are heading to Greater Geelong (VIC), which now accounts for some 9.3% of total net internal migration to regions. This is up sharply, perhaps as much as a nearly 100% annual increase. The Sunshine Coast (QLD), Lake Macquarie (NSW) and Moorabool (VIC). But the Gold Coast is drawing in creators.

This is in part because Brisbane has Tabua. The Google-led Australia Connect link provides the first direct US-Australia link outside Sydney. It also has a growing space economy thanks to Gilmour Space Technologies, which is headquartered on the Gold Coast. They achieved Australia’s first commercial orbital launch attempt (Eris rocket test in 2025 from Bowen), secured massive funding ($217 million AUD in early 2026), and are scaling sovereign launch/satellite capabilities. Though space is less and less about launching rockets and more and more about the management of remote fleets of robotics.

Strangely, Australia has yet to realize that its exceptional strengths in mining and refining are much needed in space. Capricorn Space, a Western Australia-based ground segment provider is playing a supporting role in AstroForge‘s mission by providing critical ground station services for communications and tracking. AstroForge is a California-based startup (founded in 2022) focused on commercial asteroid mining. They are specifically prospecting and eventually extracting platinum-group metals and other critical resources from near-Earth asteroids to supply Earth’s high-tech needs. There are other Australian space firms leaning into space mining. Fleet Space Technologies, based in Adelaide, South Australia, is a leading Australian space exploration company that’s revolutionizing mineral discovery through its flagship product: ExoSphere (ExoSphere by Fleet® or ExoSphere™). It launched as the world’s first end-to-end, satellite-enabled mineral exploration platform, integrating space technology, advanced geophysics, edge computing, and AI to deliver fast, precise, and low-impact subsurface imaging. They help asteroid mining companies find critical minerals (like copper, lithium, uranium, and rare earths). There is no reason that the Australian Gold Coast can’t be like Florida’s “Space Coast”. But, instead of focusing on launching rockets, it could focus on space-based power, space mining and refining, Earth observation and mega-constellations of satellites (an Aussie Starlink).

But, what about the terrible storms that hammer the Gold Coast? This is all the more reason this part of the world should be racing ahead with new building technologies that make much more resilient structures. Firms like Saltair Modular, Arcopod, Neo Living, and iBuild are routinely designed to exceed Australian cyclone ratings. It’s not just that housing and buildings can be built to withstand such weather events. They must be built this was to sustain a true expansion of the economy into these new areas. Interestingly, the Gold Coast already has the Advanced Design and Prototyping Technologies Institute (ADaPT), a cutting-edge research and innovation facility at Griffith University. Its whole purpose is to “bring together multi-disciplinary expertise across Griffith University in collaboration with leading industry partners to push the boundaries in advanced custom design, rapid prototyping and new materials, in what is called the ‘next industrial revolution’ or Industry 4.0. With advanced design at its centre and collaboration at its core, ADaPT combines leading-edge expertise in micro and nanoscience, complex imaging, 3D digital scanning, 3D functional modelling, bioengineering, industrial design, big data analytics, artificial intelligence and specialist expertise in designing advanced manufacturing processes”.ADaPT is already equipped with extensive 3D printing technologies “including multiple metal, polymer and bio printing capabilities”.

Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct (GCHKP) now has a 200-hectare innovation ecosystem (a partnership between City of Gold Coast, Griffith University, Gold Coast Health, and Queensland Government) has seen $5+ billion invested in health, education, research, and tech. It integrates hospitals with Griffith University and Bond University and focuses on preventative health, biotech, clinical trials, and AI in healthcare. GCUH’s AI-powered medical imaging initiative launched in 2024, with trials in 2025+ for spinal cord repair, stroke intervention, and artificial heart tech. 2026 sees the development of HATRIC (Health and Advanced Technology Research and Innovation Centre), which is a $35M project.

On top of all this, the Gold Coast is already known as the “Hollywood of the South Pacific” due to its 30-year history of attracting major international film production and film special effects. It already has the massive Village Roadshow Studios, which holds the largest sound stages in the Southern Hemisphere, and over $1.9 billion in film production investment, making the Gold Coast a sustained filmmaking powerhouse. Baz Lurhman and Catherine Martin are continuing to invest in film facilities here, calling it “Goldiewood”.

Yet, Australians, especially Sydneysiders, continue to just slope along in the long queues to rent a place that’s pretty underwhelming. What’s the holdup on progress? Old people. It’s older people who run the planning permission. It takes at least 4 times longer to obtain planning permission for 3D printing and modular buildings than for conventional buildings. The planning people will say it’s about safety standards, but it’s not really. 30–45% of Sweden’s new housing stock is prefab, and it’s pretty cold there. Earthquake-vulnerable Japan now has pre-cut homes everywhere. No, it’s not about safety. It’s about changing standards. Safety is even easier to address these days, thanks to AI. Artificial intelligence is transforming building design and construction, shifting the industry from a reactive to a proactive approach, especially in safety. AI has already moved beyond pilots to become a baseline tool in many firms, with early adopters reporting double-digit reductions in incidents (20–50% drops in some cases via computer vision and predictive analytics). AI generates thousands of optimized layouts based on parameters like structural integrity, material use, wind loads, seismic risks, or evacuation paths. This reduces weak points such as poor load distribution which can cause collapse risks. AI incorporates safety constraints early, resulting in inherently safer buildings with less material waste and greater resilience. AI uses data-driven models to improve structural decisions, identifying risks that human review might miss, and enhancing compliance with standards such as Australia’s National Construction Code. In other words, it’s becoming easier to withstand storms like those on the Gold Coast.

So, here’s the key. The older generation controls the rules. The younger generation understands that the only way to bring the future forward faster is to break the rules. That does not mean there are no rules. Rules must evolve with technology.

Failure to evolve the rules will have profound consequences.

For example, we know for sure that people don’t have babies when they suffer from housing insecurity. That will have profound effects on the Australian economy. That will also be important for those Boomers. After all, who will buy their $5m-$10m

1. Not just cash but participation in American and NATO advances in technology. The US wants and needs polar ground stations other than the SvalSat site in Svalbard in Norway. These Arctic - Space data links are essential in the development of the space economy. Space is about achieving abundance of energy. Abundance of resources. Abundance of satellite based internet. Greenland and Iceland too could say we want access to space based solar power, which involves beaming power from space to remote locations on Earth. They could say, if Helium 3 on the moon represents the key to nuclear fusion and Quantum computing, then we should benefit from these new forms of unlimited clean energy too. If the US is building military ground stations, why not build a commercial ground station that would give all the people of the Arctic access to free satellite-based Wi-Fi anywhere without needing to dig holes in the ground and run wires around?

2. Greenlanders and Icelanders should look at Rwanda’s space strategy. They realized that Africa is the fastest-growing and youngest Continent with the greatest resources. But, it’s all held back because there’s no pan-African internet. So they said, let’s create one by applying for the satellite slots that all nations are entitled to at the ITU (International Telecommunications Union). Rwanda doesn’t have to build the satellites or launch them or even operate them. That can all be outsourced. But, Rwanda can have the data. That’s the new gold. They can then create jobs, upgrade skills, lift incomes. The Arctic is the size of Africa and could also have a megaconstellation of satellites owned by indigenous people.

3. This is a once-in-a-species moment where humanity is becoming a truly interplanetary species. It sounds like science fiction, but already we are bringing back samples for asteroids that show we can mine in space, refine in orbit, and give humanity access to all the raw materials that are needed while saving Earth from being ripped up and contaminated by toxic processes. Indigenous people should benefit from the new wealth and new ventures that will arise from this abundance.

4. If the war in Ukraine persists, then Greenland, Iceland, and the GIUK (Greenland Iceland UK) Gap will become more critical. Why? Because that’s where Russian nuclear weapons will be traveling through the Atlantic to threaten the US or aiming at Britain’s nuclear facilities in Scotland. It’s where ICBMs and hypersonic weapons from adversaries will be flying over. If such weapons are a possibility, the indigenous people of the Arctic are the oldest and finest guardians of nature. They should have a seat at the table, access to the information and a voice to prevent nuclear escalation

   

   

5. The Greenlanders want and need better healthcare and better public services. They can negotiate to have independence while keeping the Danish social structures and support systems, while gaining the benefits of aligning with the US. Demand not just cash but systems.

6. Finally, as humanity expands up into the furthest reaches of space and down into sub space (nuclear, sub atomic, nano. Biological and DNA), no one is better placed to help us all navigate this newfound relationship with nature better than indigenous people. Maybe the universe has created this firestorm to draw the indigenous people of the world into the conversation, into positions of power, into a place where their ancient wisdom could help defuse all this geopolitical testosterone that’s flying around. As we increase our powers of both destruction and creation, we all need to dream of, envision, and bring into reality a better future. This kind of dreaming and surviving in harsh conditions is a core competency of Arctic people.

One Arctic leader said to me, “These Americans and even the Kingdom of Denmark are newcomers. We’ve been here for thousands of years. We’ll see how long they last”. Humanity needs the Arctic people to help us navigate our way to a more peaceful and abundant future.
