Fashion is earning its stripes against Tiger Global and Tiger PE. Investors have lost their ability to make sense from market signals, so it’s time to look at fashion signals again (and buy a Classic Chanel Flap Bag).
Oh please no, not maxi skirts again! I have an unreasonable dislike of that particular trend, along with low-waisted jeans which are also threatening to come back. Punk and subversive though, I can get behind that. Another trend I see with Gen Y in particular is thrifting w/self-modifications to thrifted finds.
Reading between the lines I fear this is yet another assault on personal privacy, along with CBDCs it appears we are barreling headlong to a dystopian future. Thanks for the heads up
As someone who has been oblivious to almost every fashion/art trend throughout my life, these types of signals are off my radar. Living in jeans and flannel shirts whenever possible is probably a signal of some sort that I am sending to the world, but I do not know what that signal is. Perhaps it is a simple one of "be comfortable whatever is happening." That's not a bad signal for these "interesting times" in which we live.
Of course the top .5% will flourish….for a while. Winter is coming for them too.
