Very good piece Pippa. We need to be thinking about those things that I believe, firmly, that Putin's very capable mind is thinking. The Western press are eager to show Putin as ill, disturbed, alone, rash yet a deeper analysis raises questions about just how planned these events all are. Just in the past 2 days I have read about Russia now being forced to use old weapons in its aggressive war on Ukraine and that this is a sign they are running out of weaponary and their advices will soon bog down or that they are taken massive casualties which has totally demoralized the Russian forces. Yet I also listened to videos of American and British fighters who give a different message about who is taking the massive losses. The Russians look certain to take Donetsk next. If they then pivot toward Odessa I will become convinced this is a purely strategic war by Russia and that the West is in a sticky situation as the majority of the worlds countries are either in support of Russia / China or on the fence about the war. The West is looking extremely vulnerable to me at this point.
One last thing, not sure Cassidy Hutchinson is quite the heroine the liberal press is making her out to be. Not a Trump supporter at all, but she is too ambitious and too young to be believable. I would prefer you focus your excellent geopolitical insights and try to avoid the now polarized internal politics of the USA and the UK.
Mostly agree with your global view, but suggesting Cassidy Hutchinson had any involvement or knowledge in the previous administration discredits your whole essay. Stay out of politics, if you belong to a cult.
Trump did not request the mags be removed from the Capitol, his rally was held a mile away. If you listen to former secret service agent Dan Bongino (who was on Obama's detail) EVERY President wants a big crowd at EVERY event and always asks the mags be limited. (They never agree). Also, the BS that Trump "knew" people were armed is also a canard. NO police providing security reported anyone was armed, DC police dispatchers were told by 911 callers that some people were armed but no officers were able to ID anyone with a weapon. In any case Cassidy Smollet's testimony was false and the secret service agents present in the vehicle will testify that she is lying. Of course, the phony J6 committee already interviewed both agents and knew the Cassidy story was BS - but she made for good TV for the haters of the Orange Man. Do better research.
Couldn't these also be seen as desperation moves? Who is going to transact in a coin controlled by the CAR if they don't have to? No one has deep financial markets and anything like the willingness to tolerate the financial flows that the US does. Worth thinking about but don't see how this could be scaled up.
No-one tells a geo-political story better than Dr. P and this one has all the elements of a full-blown novel, a blend of John Le Carré and Frederick Forsyth. Looking forward to the next installments.
I'm reading all of Putin's speeches. He gets it . That is why I think the dollar ramp is a defense against all of this versus just the euro weak, which it is but the key is how much pain can the US economy take?
why would Putin ever run into a "fit on nuclear rage", Russia promised to never use nuclear weapons first. it's Amerikka you guys should be worried about and their senile worthless leadership. they already used it on _civilians_.
Dr. Pippa, everytime I read one of your texts I'm terrified with what the future holds. It doesn't seem the west will get their act together in time to counter China/Russia. It feel like I have the front seat watching the demise of the west. My heart races to think of a world dominated by Russia/China's mentality. The world is changing too fast.
